Water Bottles - but with a straw that is easy to clean
I'll give you an review of two of the most common ones you'll find in stores. I got them both free as swag so I have no skin in the game. 1 - Tervis 24oz push button release - all plastic. Pros are that it's light and dishwasher safe. Cons are that the push button to drink out of it is annoying and flimsy. I doubt it will last more than a couple of years of daily use. And you have to keep it locked (different flimsy switch thing) or it will fly open and spill water whenever it wants. Also, gunky nastiness builds up around the mouth and inside the lid and the dishwasher doesn't seem to get rid of that, so you have to really scrub it periodically. 2/5 score 2 - Yeti 26oz screw top. The body is stainless while the lid is plastic. Pros are that it's dishwasher safe and seems to be really durable overall. I bet it will last as long as the o-ring that seals the top on and it doesn't leak or open by accident. The cons are: First is having to unscrew it, requiring two hands to take a drink is pretty annoying compared to other options. The other is the double lid design. You see, there is a screw top for you to drink out of, and a second one to remove the whole lid for refilling. The problem is that as you take the first lid off to drink and then screw it back on each time, you're slowly tightening the main lid to the point that you might need vice grips to open it to refill if you're not careful. 3/5 score I'm not super jazzed about either of them, but free is free I suppose.

Coffee Cup/Tumbler that is EASY TO CLEAN and ideally leak proof
I'm a Tervis fan myself. The company is family owned and a small business. They've been around since 1946 and if you can snatch one of their vintage regular drink cups at a garage sale, they're a find. My daughter got me a coffee cup from them and when it's closed it's virtually leak proof. It's easy to clean, sturdy (stainless steel inside and out) and keeps my coffee hot long after I've forgotten it existed. I very well expect this to be the last travel cup I own. (So long as I don't lose it)

Water bottle that looks like...a water bottle.
Get a tervis, not only is it plastic, but it is double walked to keep your water cool, and the cap is super easy, won't leak, and the opening is a similar size to a disposable bottle. They are usually under $30 too.
