What are the up-and-coming companies known for quality goods?
I’ll throw Thuma in. I’ve bought two bed frames and a bookcase and love the build quality. They’re easy to put together and are solidly made.

Need a great bed that works for TempurPedic Mattress
Got a Thuma bed frame for my TempurPedic and it's been solid for 2+ years now. The slat spacing is perfect and the center support beam handles the weight really well. Only downside is assembly took forever but worth it for the quality

I bought this exact bed. It is incredibly creaky and the middle support beam broke within half a year of use. I returned this and bought a Thuma. Incredible bed

BIFL Bed Frame Mid-Century
I’ve only had the problem above when the screws weren’t tight enough, but I could see how that would be annoying. We have three KD Frames in each bedroom and they are a good value. The Thuma bed is a clever design, someone made a comment in this post of a cheaper clone of the Thuma bed although still a little higher in price than a KD frames.

Yeah my Thuma has been surprisingly sturdy and immobile. After a lot of Ikea level crap, this has lasted much better without squeaks or shakyness.

BIFL Bed Frame Mid-Century
We just got one after *years* of having it on our wishlist and love it so much. We spent an hour and half disassembling our old bed and five minutes assembling our thuma. It's silent and lower to the ground, which is easier for our senior dog.

BIFL Bed Frame Mid-Century
Had a Thuma for years. If OP is looking at West Elm prices, just get a Thuma. Very sturdy. No squeaks. No racking. Easily torn down and put together again. Even cheaper alternatives (from reviews I’ve read, not experience) appear to have much worse tolerances Very difficult to find BIFL furniture these days but Thuma might be one of those generational pieces tbh. Crazy well made

Solid and silent bed frame.
I have two Thuma beds with pillow boards and don't have any squeaks. It's basically foam with a fabric covering and it sits pretty tight up against the wall. I don't know about the solid wood headboard. I'm still super happy with my Thuma + Avocado Green Mattress combo after 4+ years!

Absolutely. We've had ours for about 4 years now and it has been through 2 moves. It is still extremely sturdy and in perfect condition and is so easy to take a part and move. It has never made a sound, even after taking it apart and putting it back together twice. I’ve had a thumb bed for 4, almost 5 years and have moved it 3 times. It is as solid as the first time it was put together. It makes no noise, doesn’t move and still looks great. It’s also very easy to put together. My only complaint was that they did not yet make headboards when I bought my frame and I had to buy one separately later. Will I never need to buy another bed? Probably not but I can absolutely see this bed lasting me at least a few decades.

Is the thuma bed worth it?
I've had my Thuma for 5 years and it's been absolutely fantastic. No movement, totally silent, easy to put together. However! My Tempur Pedic did NOT feel the same even though Thuma and Tempur Pedic both say the slats' size/shape/spacing should be fine for the mattress. I gave it a couple weeks to make sure I wasn't imagining things and finally gave up and added Tempur's 2" flat foundation, which fixed it. Might be different with a hybrid or traditional mattress, but full heavy foam flexed through the slats too much.

I have one and love it. It is shockingly sturdy and can take abuse. It’s made it through a rough move and doesn’t budge when you’re in it. The locking mechanisms are genuinely cool and really work. The rounded legs are a plus because I walk my shins into my bed constantly. They also provide an extra set of short legs, which is a nice touch. Thuma is a 10/10 for me.

Looking for durable bed frame!
See some recs for KD frames. I bought one for my new engineered sleep mattress, king size with the topper. I don't know if the mattress weight is too heavy or too tall, but this frame has been a nightmare. My husband and I are constantly waking each other up because every time someone rolls over the frame shakes violently. So I am in the market again and will either put the mattress on the floor or get a thuma.

Japanese Joinery Bed Frame Review - FlexiSpot
I didn't even notice before you said that. Those edges really stick out, and they look sharp. It looks like the bed should be bigger to cover them. [Thuma has that but it's rounded](https://www.thuma.co/products/classic-bed?variant=40590309359721&g_campaign=PMax_Shopping_Thuma_Bamboo_Google_CVR_TheBed_PerformanceMax&g_adgroupid=&g_keywordid=&g_network=x&g_campaignid=17721881493&g_keyword=&g_adid=&g_acctid=804-697-9429&g_adtype=none&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMax_Shopping_Thuma_Bamboo_Google_CVR_TheBed_PerformanceMax&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17339390299&gbraid=0AAAAADCfg-8K-XimkH1AyojtOotZdWw0E&gclid=CjwKCAjwiNXFBhBKEiwAPSaPCVQzBnq0m_N1aV5Ru_xWMKd0XFnGLnIrAsaPxO6vtoLtDEWSeWAwbxoC1mcQAvD_BwE) and all around - I'd pay the extra $750 to avoid injuries. But I have a KD Frames, which is cheaper than both - heck to put together, but the bed is solid and slats are close, and no injuries so far.

Looking to replace every single item we own
Sorry for your experience. Getting into the suggestion, as a recent person that bought a house and moved "for good" I did quite a bit of research on a lot of things. As you might know a lot of them are not BIFL, and some people will scream at you if the thing lasts only 30 years, but my answer to your list is: 1 - AllClad + LeCreuset (if you want cheaper options, cast iron skillet will do 80% of the things easy, do not sleep on things sold at Costco either, such as Tramontina and Ninja) 2 - I've been eyeing Thuma bed for a while. Solid reviews. If you have more money, I would go with a local Amish shop. For now I only have a creacky metal kingbedframe from wayfair that is going strong for 6 years. Mattress I got Helix, but at 2k I feel like I overpaid. 3 - I would say here its the most subjective. Do you have dogs? How big is your family? What style you going for? If you not 100% sure, from all things I would suggest you invest on this one the least, and leave the door open for future changes.

To counterpoint a couple mentions of Zinus in here. Ours creaked within a few months and had almost collapsed by 6 years. I'm in the NFL linebacker size class but my partner is far from. Not to mention a lot of their bases have slats too far apart for some modern mattresses so you'd need to add more to officially qualify for those brands' warranties. But +1 Thuma. Solid and silent for years. Probably not tall enough for your specs.

I had zero issues at all. Delivery was fast (early even) and the quality was surprising. For all the particle board crap offered online now, the beds I purchased are super high quality. They are heavy duty solid wood. Granted, when I ordered they had a different manufacturer I think. I haven’t used them since they’ve changed manufacturers.

thuma’s solid, no doubt + feels like it’ll last forever and looks good in pretty much any setup. but if you’re not trying to spend that much, plank+beam has some frames that hold up surprisingly well. simple design, real wood, decent support. nothing fancy, but it doesn’t wobble and doesn’t look cheap either. feels like the kind of thing that just quietly works.

I bought a vintage hardwood bedroom set for 1500$ off marketplace
Yeah it’s definitely not IKEA or Amazon. Here’s my other purchases for the last two years: For my queen set of hardwood stuff last year was far more expensive, and the quality of much of that stuff was lower than this one (with the exception of the Thuma bed) - A Thuma Queen BIFL bed cost 2200$. - 5-drawer Dresser from wayfair was 1200$ - the Nightstands were 600$ a piece, half the width and height. - My embrace 360 BIFL king frame cost 800$ and I didn’t even have a headboard for it (yet) or nightstands, so I think I made out okay. Plus even though it’s BIFL and the slats were wicked sturdy, the corner pieces were plastic and kept getting bumped off in the night. - The 12-drawer ikea Nordli dresser I replaced with both of those which has fallen apart after 2 years was 800$ This stuff is so sturdy it’s lasting another 40 years easily.

Excellent question. Looking back at it, I wish I had invested in good bedding at an early age. You know you spend a 1/3 of your life in bed so I have found it to be one of the most important parts of my existence is having top of the line everything in that realm. High quality mattress (to your preference), goose down duvet insert, boll and branch duvet cover, cariloha sheet set, and top notch pillows of your preference, all on a Thuma bed frame. Good sleep leads to a better day, everyday.

I'm a big fan of my Thuma frame. Easy to put together, take apart, and move with. It also makes zero creaking sounds, which is a godsend as a light sleeper. It also helps keep noise down for...other activities

I was looking into Thuma for a while after a series of less than amazing metal bed frames got me really frustrated. We’ve had the Thuma bed frame now for…. Four years I think? I love it. Very solid when put together, easy to break down, move and reassemble. No creaking or groaning with movement. After spending about $500 on other bed frames that just made me upset and didn’t last investing in the Thuma ended up being the best option.

I agree with Thuma but I don't really agree with the lifespan thing. You get a good metal one it can last for life (so it would fit this sub's desire technically) and I can vouch for that as we have ones from the 50s and 60s still in use. I can attest to Thuma as it's my personal frame as I used the old ones until I got my own house as the old ones I had my from parents and grandparents were still solid but very dated looking. I gave one away to a friend and the other is used in a guest room but they both are still great frames. Really, I think anything made with decent metal will probably last a lifetime but nowadays manufacturers skimp on the steel or use that cheap foreign junk metal.

I have a Thuma. Love it. Very good if you're a renter and have to move around. Also super durable. I've had no problems. And on a secondary note, I unfortunately lost my first Thuma that I'd had for six plus years in the Eaton fire here in Los Angeles. The company was incredibly kind and replaced it at no charge. Good people. Good bedframe.

We bought a Thuma several months ago and are happy with it. The style fits with our tastes, and it's easy to put together and take apart (we had carpet replaced in the room it was in so had to get everything out). When I put it together it felt a little loose and I had some concerns about movement, but once you get a mattress on it it's pretty rigid. I noticed the headboard had a gap between the two sections and they are sending me a new piece without any fuss or cost to me.

Have Thuma, easiest assembly ever and even better sheet fitting, replacement. Easy recommend but I dunno like any of these posts if bifl or are we shopping 🛍️ ( been 6 years ) 7-15 years is the lifespan of a bed frame.

Knickerbocker EmBrace 360 bed frame review
This is really helpful. I was on the fence. Everyone hating on this clearly doesn't fuck too hard. I've bought quite a few bed frames. They all squeak, creak, and move. My Thuma is the only exception but I don't want to buy a Big Ass Thuma rn.

My bed. Did a lot of research and ended up where I started — Thuma ads from instagram. Hoping it lives up to the expectations they set.

Knickerbocker EmBrace 360 bed frame review
That's so true. I also didn't want to get a wooden frame because people say even the Thuma can be noisy at the joints The foundation box that came with my mattress isn't truly silent, so I'll be looking at replacing it with vertical wooden slats soon... Knickerbocker also makes their own platform bed with plywood decking but the price for it is too high in my opinion. But if it's better than slats it might be worth it

I need a bed frame that absolutely will not move, sway, squeak, crunch, etc!
I once tried buying a no-sway bed frame with all the ambition of a cow on roller skates. Well, 18 bed frames later, Thuma's been a rock, but ConsumerRating helped me find my match after a merry-go-round of wobbling. Thuma's fit for battles, but Avocado and my Aireloom are dreamy for sleep fights. With all this expert reviewing on the case, you know you ain't the only one hunting for comfort! Stay swayed-tastic, I guess!

I would still highly recommend Thuma. They do have several options in wood to check out. It’s very well made and pretty high quality imo.
