  I lost my tilley on holiday. Thought it was guaranteed vs loss. Turns out it wasn't, and the guaranteed for life was 4 years. I ended up buying another as i liked the hat. Bought it 1 size too small so while it does fit it squeezes my head. Overall, 0/10 support experience.

  I have about 6 or 7 Tilleys. 3 or 4 were bought new 8-10 years ago, and the rest used off eBay. I ordered one direct from Tilley again about 2 years ago and when I got it I noticed the fabric felt different, almost like a stiff plastic. Looked at the tag and it said “made in china”. I was so disappointed. I returned it and bought the one I wanted used on eBay (made sure the tag inside it said made in Canada) for about $50 less than the new one was. I think they still have a line or 2 they still make in Canada? But no more new ones for me. I won’t even replace them under warranty, I’ll just buy another lightly used one and wash it again. (Actually bought another used one 6 months ago not in great shape and dyed it brown since a couple stains wouldn’t come out. Perfect for mowing the grass)

  I recently submitted a guaranteed for life claim with Tilley for a 25 year old T4H hemp hat. Their customer service replied within a couple of hours (on a Sunday). I had to send a list of 3 models/colors I preferred that were in stock on the US website. They had my 2nd choice available. Sent them to pics of my destroyed hat, they sent an invoice. I paid $30 and a new hat within a week. I was very pleased with the whole process and have no complaints.

  My first Tilley hat I had replaced under warranty they told me it was due to sweat around the rim. I now make sure to hand wash it more frequently and air dry stuffed. I’ve had 2 replaced under warranty.

  My dad has had several Tilley hats replaced through the years. Enough that he felt guilty and bought a new one on more than one occasion. The last time they directed him to the nearest retailer and handled it though them. If the place you bought it is still in business try that route

My BIFL EDC bits are: - Victorinox Classic SD, on a Nite-Ize S-Biner used as a key ring. - Streamlight Stylus Pro torch - Zeiss MiniQuick 5x10 monocular - Koyono Slimmy wallet (2 pocket) - Casio GW-M5610 G-Shock (or a Seiko SKX013 at weekends) - Lamy Pico All carried in a Tom Bihn Cafe Bag. In summer, add Maui Jim sunnies & a Canadian made Tilley T3 hat.

  $500 BIFL Health/Wellness products?

  lucky you. A friend of mine who has such a tab spends it on stuff like houseplants, massages, and ergonomic workspace equipment (she doesn't get outdoors much). I'd get a tent, sleeping bag, a national park pass, and new running shoes. Maybe some new yoga pants, a Tilley hat, a kettlebell, or a tune-up on my bicycle if I hadn't hit $500 yet. I already own hiking boots, pullup bar, gymnastic rings and slam ball, which are some of my favorite health/wellness toys.

  My Tilley hat after 3 years of everyday usage. Just a bit faded.

  Sadly made in China now. Different terms. But they did replace my warn out Canadian made hat last year.

  Still have a lifetime warranty? I bought one last year and it’s seems to be good quality. I still have my old one that was my grandpas.
