  Yeah. We cook thanksgiving turkeys on my brothers traeger going on four years. They are amazing. Charcoal definitely tastes better but on days I am busy, it’s hard to do briskets. Much easier to set it the night before rather than waking up to add more charcoal. It would probably get used once a week or so. My old boss was given a 10 year old Traeger. His neighbor bought th latest and greatest but the old one still worked fine. I’ve heard they typically last 10-15 years depending on ho well you take care of it

  The Yoder they mention is like $2600 bucks. We love our Traeger and it was about half the price.

  What's the best pellet smoker?

  I had a Traeger for about 10 years, before it finally needed repairs I wasn't willing to make at that age. I had used it multiple times per week, even during the winter. We're in a cold weather area, so I kept it in the garage and pulled it out to use it with a blanket wrap in the winter. Other than that, I was never very careful about covering it, although I'd use the cover when I remembered. I decided to try Reqtec this time, and got one a little less than a year ago. I decided on that because it'll get hotter, and I use it for a lot of traditional grill stuff like steaks, burgers, and chicken breasts. The first problem I had was terrible flare-ups when doing steaks, which I'd never had with the Traeger. So I had to reduce the temp to avoid the flare-ups anyways. I can't blame that on the grill. Next problem I had was the circuit board quit. Customer service was awesome, and had a replacement to me quickly, which was easy to replace. It worked well for a while after that, until a time where it wouldn't come up to temperature. It was dark, and I hadn't noticed that it had a couple inches of water in it. My fault for not covering it, but again, I never had to do that with the Traeger. I got the water out, cleared the auger, and it worked fine again I had it covered sitting outside this winter, and now it's not working again, it'll start, but the auger doesn't seem to be working right, and it eventually stops auguring pellets. Customer service was great again, and shipped me a replacement auger motor, which I haven't been able to try yet. All the problems I've had can probably be traced to me not being careful enough with the weather. When is working, it's great. It just probably requires being more careful than I've been.

  What's the best pellet smoker?

  I've got a buddy who swears by his Recteq and ive heard good things overall about them so I may go that route, price is better too. Worth noting Traeger is pretty expensive, they do big sales like every holiday but especially fathers day, thats when I got mine. Wouldnt get one not on sale. Possible I just got a lemon, but all the people I know with other "less popular" pellet smoker brands have had theres longer without problems.
