The Best Kids' Clothes Right Now?
Hanna Anderson, GAP Baby/Kids, CrewCuts, Janie & Jack, North Face, Patagonia, Vans (sneakers), Bogs (boots). I buy on sale for new, or thrift these brands on ThredUp. I try to buy natural fibers (cotton, mostly). Everything holds up well and resells well because everything it is in excellent condition even used.

Help me pick a shoe for regular college use
Ahh I didn't know he was trying to buy Reps. Because I know for sure real Bapestas aren't cheaper than $60 lol. I'd still recommend vans or a pair of dunks. Only people who notice your designer shoes will know they're fake. The people who don't know the difference won't care what you're wearing

What Snow Boots to Buy?
Not buy it for life but my Vans have served me well during the winters. I have different varieties but when it’s bad out, I wear the one that is goretex lined and insulated.

Vans still rock. I just retired an 8 year old pair of sk8-his from high school, not even ripped or anything they just started warping in a weird way that made my feet hurt. BIFL? No, but still worth the money imo.

I have had pairs of oldskool vans last me over 5 years. Not buy it for life but definitely shockingly long for how much I wear them.

Why is it so hard to find well-made clothes that aren't insanely priced?
All my fruit of the loom, Eddie Bauer, DC, vans, champion, bumper equipment etc etc have lasted decades without being destroyed. They cost 40-80 tops

Shoes that look and feel like Converse high tops but don't fall apart within weeks/months?
That's frustrating – sounds like you got a defective pair honestly, since Chuck 70s are usually solid if you get a good one. Have you tried reaching out to Converse about the heel separation? That's a manufacturing defect they should warranty. If you do want to try something different, Vans Old Skools are the go-to alternative and way more durable, though the aesthetic is obviously a bit different if you specifically need that high-top look.

Bombas Socks have really let me down. Any recommendations welcome!
I’m not saying they’re BIFL necessarily but Vans socks have yet to let me down. The last time I bought socks at the store, the cashier told me the company increased the percentage of cotton in their socks, and I did notice the difference in comfort. Also, NQA, but holes in socks and the way the bottoms of our shoes erode could depend on how we walk 🤔 that being said, if we work to correct our stance and gait, we could make our shoes and socks last longer.

This is a highly individual question. My most comfortable all-day shoes are Vans slip-on sneakers. But I’ve never met anyone that agrees with me

Go get some vans or skateboarder gear. It’s made better to withstand all the stunts.

Having trouble finding quality sneakers
generally speaking skateboard shoes are overbuilt to withstand their use case and will last a lot longer than a normal sneaker if you don't skate. Ton's of brands like dc, emerica, vans, etnies, e's, hours is yours, osiris, globe etc. Some of the bigger companies make skate shoes as well, iirc adidas and nike both have lines.

What's everyone's go-to sneaker?
I consider all sneakers disposable. Bifl would be something that can be refurbished or resoled, I typically wear Danner and Thorogood Chelsea's for daily use or boots. For the gym I use OG Vans which are great for squat and deadlifts. For running I still like my Endorphin Speed 4s

What's everyone's go-to sneaker?
My leather shoes and boots are all at 10+ years and in great condition, but I’ve never been able to get more than a few years out of sneakers when worn regularly. I usually rotate between a pair of classic Vans and a pair of Killshots for everyday casual wear. Hokas are probably the next shot for work shoes - curious to see how they hold up against Birkenstocks (chef). I have some Saucony trail runners that have held up really well under a lot of abuse for the last two years and have some mileage left - curious to see how long they last me. Unless I’m buying shoes for work, I refuse to pay full retail price in the US for shoes. I highly recommend everyone checks out r/frugalmalefashion. Some stud over there has been posting a shoe sale roundup every Sunday for years. It has pretty much become my single source for all shoe purchases and it’s saved me a ton of money on shoes I actually want. You just have to be patient and diligent in checking.

what do you guys think the highest quality budget shoes are?
I think Vans has an upgraded shoe, designed for hardcore skaters that’s even more durable. I have a pair and are really holding up nicely except for the corner my new puppy got a hold of.

My vans have been solid! I will buy another pair. They were about 100. Hey Dudes are not BIFL they wear out quickly! I buy them for 35-40 and then I feel like it’s worth it. But 6 months wear max

Comfy business casual shoes?
I recently made a pair of custom all leather vans with the comfort soles. They’re really comfortable and look dressy enough to pass as bus casual the way I designed them (all black leather). I like the vibe of wearing Vans into bus casual environments 🤣. I also did the custom embroidery with my businesses initials on the back.

What are some items under $500 you’ve made so far that changed your life?
I’ve purchased the same exact checkered Vans socks for literal decades. Grey, black, red. I don’t bother matching them because they don’t stick out of my shoes at all. Every 5 years or so I’ll buy 3 3-packs. They last forever!

What brand of shoes that lasts?
I’ve seen A LOT of Vans last 9-10 years. Skateboard shoes are meant to drag and survive bumps and scuffs. Obviously if they are your one and only pair of shoes that may not be your experience, but if they are in the rotation, they will outlast your Nikes/Adidas/New Balance.

What brand of shoes that lasts?
There's new Vans models that look more "sporty", more like a sneaker than how a vans shoe usually looks like, and have extra cushion on the insole, if youre looking for something more sporty and comfortable :) I've also heard pretty good things about New Balance sneakers, haven't tried them myself but people have recommended them to me

What brand of shoes that lasts?
All my shoes/sneakers are either Flexi, Vans, Charlie and/or Levi's, and they have hold up pretty good, I've had Vans for 2+ years, Charlie shoes 1-2 years for gym use, Flexi and Levi's boots hold up pretty good, I once had a Levi's boots for almost 5 years of almost daily use until the soles started to wear off, only the soles, the body of the boot was still in pretty good condition

Ladies, what are the MOST comfortable boots you’ve worn for walking 10k+ steps a day?
The Vans Sk8-Hi MTE 2.0 for me. I had them in camo, but if I had a solid color or better color I would have def worn with a dress. Wore them with a few denim skirts. Hiked in them, wore them on the golf course, and for international travel.

they claim rainbow flip flops last forever. These Fossils are literally Fossils LOL.. these were my first pair of flip flops. These are 20+ years old.
Growing up in a beach city, standard attire was rainbows. If you didn’t have rainbows at school you were a nobody.. lol I wore them 350 days a year, all day long, working on yachts, sailing, surfing, etc. I think I had my best pair last two years. At a certain point you need to have a second pair for your “dress rainbows” for special occasions, dates, major holidays, etc. When I wasn’t in rainbows I was wearing Vans Classics.

Going to Europe, suggestions for comfortable, not-ugly walking shoes that will last?
I wore Vans for both of my extended trips, miiiles of walking each day and they lasted a couple more years once I got back home. I found some cute black floral ones that felt a little more fashionable than just regular sneakers, could be dressed up (within reason, I didn’t go anywhere *fancy*) or down. I found them pretty comfortable but I don’t have high arches so they might not be good for everyone. Not a buy it for life, but they were a solid purchase that met my needs.

Going to Europe, suggestions for comfortable, not-ugly walking shoes that will last?
I check the weather for wherever I’m going - if it’s warm enough for toes to be out, it’s sandals (and Vionic flip floos for the beach.) Otherwise, I will take the boots and add a pair of Vans slip-ons to wear with jeans so I don’t have to wear the same footwear every day. I’m a super light packer - I build all my travel outfits from the shoes up!
