Yes, what's wrong is that the design of the Weber Q grill is such that there is nothing between a cheap burner tube with tiny holes and the grate except an inch of air so that oils, grease, and sediment will drip down directly onto it with heavy daily use and/or bugs and other crap will end up inside if you store outside (like I do). This creates a situation in which the burner tube requires more frequent cleaning than any other grill I've ever owned, and unfortunately touching it or cleaning it almost always results in sediment being pushed down inside the tiny holes which then leaves you with the choices of taking a needle or push-pin and probing every single of the 200+ holes individually to make sure they can produce flames or simply ordering an $15 replacement part on Amazon, which I've done several times.

Anyone keep a “BIFL Roster”?
Work jackets are tough since all clothes are a bit different and some fit better on different body types. I’ve loved my Filson jacket(s) for many years if you take care of it, it will take care of you. Bushcraft knife - Ive had and used my Dad’s Buck 192. Vanguard for at least 15 years. It’s a tank. However, I do have several winkler knives on my wish list. They’re still hand made, the quality is excellent, and the dude made all the weapons on the last of the Mohican movie. Pots and pans - can’t go wrong with All clad and Le creuset Kitchen knife’s are tough since they are a big “preference” item. But Wusthof makes excellent mass produced knives. If you’re looking for something more custom I’d research your local blacksmiths. One of my favorites is Henry Hyde. His site is Hyde handmade knives(all one word).com. His stuff is amazing and beautiful. Don’t have any griddle recs since I’ve never gotten into them. As for a bbq grill, I think the big green egg is the best you can buy with its lifetime warranty. But if it’s for the cabin and you don’t want to worry about someone making off with it. I’d say just a good old fashioned Webber kettle works just fine. Roller suitcases I don’t know: I’ve been using my goruck bag and a leather duffle from Pendleton. I love your list, my friend! I hope the above helps you in your future BIFL searches and acquisitions!

I recently restored a an old Weber propane grill, and it had beautiful cast iron grates that I was going to clean up and use. I took one side out and tossed in from waist height onto my grass and it shattered. I learned a lesson about hardness and brittleness that day.

Recently got married myself. Some thoughts: Kitchen Stuff: - Le Creuset Dutch oven, frying pan, and anything else, really - Staub Dutch oven, honestly might be longer lasting than the Le Creuset. I own both and the Staub is much heavier duty. - Wüsthof chef knives, go for the Ikon Classic line, best feel and bang for buck. - Schott Zwiesel wine glasses, omfg buy these yourself if you must, the “Pure” collection is basically indestructible, have had multiple of them fall off of counters/coffee tables and miraculously not break. Also their DOF and other bar glasses are great. - Mannkitchen Pepper Cannon, my most-used kitchen tool, indestructible and absolutely BIFL - ThermoWorks, instant thermometer is a 10/10 VIGL product, also their RFX wireless thermometer if you like to grill or braise stuff for long cooks. - Stainless steel and teak wood utensils. All clad and Williams Sonoma make great stuff - Marcato Otello pasta roller machine, this thing will be the most legit vintage looking tool in your kitchen, will produce the best pasta you’ve ever had, will impress every guest, and make you look like an influencer on the socials Other Tools: - Leatherman multi-tool. I’ve had mine for a decade now. - Stihl products, chainsaw, leaf blowers, trimmers, etc - Weber products, grills mainly House: - get a head start on quality picture frames you will ultimately need for your wedding photos. People don’t think about this, but after the wedding you’re probably going to have to spend another thousand on prints and frames for the photos. - quality hardware like candelabras, etc - pretty plants that will last a lifetime, big monsteras, citrus trees, fancy orchids, etc.

What's the best pellet smoker?
I’ve done maybe a dozen or so overnight cooks. It’s not really my thing, but I do it occasionally. Never had an issue. I will say this discussion has me thinking of upgrading. Other commenters have me considering the Masterbuilt XT right now. The Smokefire has no way to do a rotisserie and I’m very interested in using charcoal. I prefer the flavor of charcoal so much that I ended getting a Weber kettle grill for the days I want that favor profile. It even would appear that you can get a griddle accessory for the XT. It would be nice to consolidate all of my cooking devices into a single unit that performs even better than my existing setup.

What's the best pellet smoker?
Yoder probably has the highest quality for the price. They are solidly built. Rec-Tec, GMG, Weber should all last a long time. These all have electrical components which won’t truly last a lifetime but these companies will support them and sell replacement parts for a long time which is what I look for when making a large purchase.

What's the best pellet smoker?
I bought the Weber Smokefire pellet grill as soon as it came out in 2020. Early on, I had an issue with the auger, but Weber took care of that under warranty and I’ve had no problems since. At one point, we had a huge wind/rain storm and it got blown off of my back porch and was knocked over and exposed the underbelly to several hours of pouring rain. I expected the electronics to be ruined after that, but after I let the water drain out for a while, it started back up and hasn’t give me any problems. That happened 3 years ago. Also, I almost never have to clean it out. Due to the insides getting completely soaked in rain a few years ago, the aluminum brackets eventually rusted to the point where they no longer worked. Getting replacement parts for those two pieces was super easy on Weber’s website. It’s standing the test of time and abuse for me.

So many things... \- I bought a craftsman circular saw when I built my house 40 years ago and it burned out the first day. I replaced it with a Makita saw that I still use to this day. \- I also bought a Robot Coupe food processor around the same time and it's still chugging away. \- Sturdy oak furniture - had it all my life. \- Good pots and pans and cookware. (Calphalon, Le Creuset, cast iron) \- Weber grill \- I have a GE refrigerator in my garage that's probably 70 years old and still runs fine. ($35) And no, they don't make them like that anymore.

What did you buy not realizing you bought it for life?
I have a Braun epilator that is 26 years old, it still looks good and works well. We also have our first Weber gas grill with the extra side burner (even though we have a Weber charcoal and another newer gas Weber now too, which we got thinking we'd replace the old one, but we couldn't justify it) that is about 22 years old. Several parts have been replaced and it's rusty, but it still works. I have a 29 yr old Patagonia rain jacket (the kind that you could turn inside out into it's own zipper pouch for storage). It still looks great (teal green which has come back into style again.
