Look at brands like Nick's, whites, franks, Wesco, viberg, John lofgren, Eastman. These boots will last you a few years before a resole is needed, and depending on how tough you are, maybe even 7-10 years before a rebuild is necessary. If it's light work, these boots are absolute tanks and will outlast any boot on the market. They make redwings look and feel like child play boots

Best all day/everyday BIFL boots narrowed down between these two
Definitely no where close to buy it for life. You'll be lucky to get more than a year out of them. There is no such thing as a buyer for life boot. The closest thing you'll ever find are going to be Pacific Northwest foods like Nick's whites Wesco JK, Frank's. Those are in the $4-800 range. Then there's the likes of viberg, John lofgren, and the Japanese that get in the 2k range

Schott Perfecto leather jacket This thing could stop a fucking bullet. I call it “pre-vintage” because I bought it brand new but it’ll get passed on to my grandkids. They have other models too but the Perfecto is *the* biker jacket, worn by The Ramones, James Dean, Marlon Brando etc. Also a pair of PNW leather boots, White’s, Nick’s, Wesco’s Frank’s, etc. These are handmade for loggers and woodland firefighter and have been around for generations, they will last forever if you take care of them. /r/pnwbootmakers

Nick’s, JK’s, Frank’s, Truman, Wesco, White’s, etc., for US-based bootmakers. So many more for UK-based, Australia-based, Indonesia-based, Japan-based, etc. It’s a good rabbit hole to jump into.

Buy Once Cry Once items?
Never in their wildest dreams…. Until you do. Then give it five years and tell me how many pairs you have in your closet. If you don’t know, you just don’t know. I used to only be able to afford a couple hundred for boots. But I grew so sick of spending 2-400 a year on boots that would disintegrate, or destroy my feet. I get all my pnw boots off eBay. I had severe plantar fasciitis and got a pair of nicks builder pros, and it was an absolute game changer. My feet have NEVER been healthier. Then I got another pair of nicks, then a pair of whites, then a pair of wesco. The whites and nicks I never spent more than $450 on eBay. All practically brand new. The Wesco boots are engineers, and I cringed when I bought them but I had to have them. $875😂 when you know you know.

[BIFL Request] A work boot for ACTUALLY taking out on the field that doesn't look beauiful
Do you need the steel toe? I do construction and ranch work and have never needed a steel toe. The steel will poke through easier than a non steel toe. By the way, I have wescos and they are still going after almost 2 years which is about a year and a half longer than any other work boot I have owned.
