another model worth checking out is the Winix HR900. It’s true HEPA, decent for dust/pollen/pet dander, and has a quiet sleep mode so it won’t bug you at night. Just keep in mind filter costs and check if it hits the 300-500 sq ft space well.

Been using the[ WINIX 5510](https://x.com/red_cat1989/status/1973423045189705960) for a couple of weeks now – honestly impressed. It’s super quiet on the lower settings, but you can feel the air is much fresher, especially in the mornings. The auto mode kicks in right away if I’m cooking or the air feels heavy. Filters are easy to swap too. Didn’t expect such a difference for allergies, but it really helps.

Winix 5510 is also a beast if you've got a bigger room to cover. If budget's tight though, the Levoit smart one gives you a lot of bang for the buck.

Need Help Choosing the Best Air Purifier for Allergies, True HEPA and Quiet
I've had quite a few air purifiers, most fans use bearings and bearings will eventually fail. I've had one purifier that's 7 years old and still running, but another failed after 2-3 years. I'm switching my air purifiers from Hepa to Corsi-Rosenthal boxes, though I'll probably still use small hepas in critical rooms but not sure. I'm looking at Clean Air Kits, 3D Handyman, AirFanta, or the NuKit Tempest. Corsi-Rosenthal boxes use Merv 13 or higher HVAC filters and usually a box fan, but people also use PC fans. Here's why this is a better choice for people who want to buy it for life. 1: PC fans and Box fans are made by dozens of different brands and can be purchased anywhere - Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot etc. 2: HVAC filters are cheap, efficient, and abundant. 3. These purifiers do not lock you into one brand and all parts are user replaceable. 4: Efficiency - because the filters are more efficient, it requires less energy to pull air through them. PC fans use DC motors, which use 1/10 of the energy and are much quieter than AC motors. They're also are engineered to be virtually silent. HVAC filters benefit from economies of scale and are cheap to replace. Since the whole system is made from replaceable parts, you won't ever have to throw it all away just because a model got discontinued or a brand went out of business. Many people think HEPA is the gold standard and there is no doubt if sized appropriately they filter air quite well. The problem is to get them to work you need to either run them at full speed all day or buy a huge and expensive unit that you can run at half speed to get a reasonable CADR. Surprisingly, data shows that Corsi-Rosenthal boxes are just about as good and that's because they can achieve higher CADRs, and a greater number of Air Changes Per Hour. The filters do not clog as quickly and can filter large volumes of air quietly which means you will leave them running all day. To get the same amount of air cleaning power one unit achieved with my winix 5200-2 I'd have to run it at turbo mode and it's just way too loud. Plus the corsi rose thal box built with pc fans pulled 8 watts vs the winix pulling about 60 at turbo. My electricity rates in CA are super expensive and it saves hundreds of dollars a year in energy and filter costs to go with a Corsi Rosenthal box. This is the video that convinced me this was the way to go: https://youtu.be/gaQTYrisieA?feature=shared Air filters are really just extra insurance - you'll do a lot more good with a solid Hepa vacuum cleaner and frequent vacuuming, as well as keeping up with your HVAC system's filter changes. You should run your HVAC fan a few hours a day to help filter massive volumes of air quickly.

A fan that makes great white noise
I used fans for decades, but about 5 or 6 years ago switched to an air purifier. Winnix from Costco. Can’t vouch for bifl yet, but has helped my allergies, you don’t realize how much dust is in the air until you get one. It’s perfect white noise on high. Bought a small fan to use also when I need air circulated.

They offer a lifetime warranty as long as you buy filters from them or an authorized 3rd party. Or Coway or Winix. Do you care about VOCs or just particulates? The best might be Austin Air and a few similarly expensive brands but that's mostly because they filter stuff like VOCs. I think dust is probably particulates. I'm not exactly an expert. If money is no object and you care mostly about particulates, it might be a matter of having multiple air purifiers. You definitely want one with a HEPA filter. Personally, I've been happy with my Winix and my BlueAir, but I think the Winix is a little better and neither is quite perfect. I’ve got one of these and the Coway Airmega 1512HH as recommended in another comment. Both work very well, but the Winix makes noise on all speed settings, while the Coway is silent on low, near-silent on medium, and makes a much more pleasant air rushing sound on high than the Winix.

you can't beat the physics. what you want is the big size as prioirty thing to look for first. then you can look into other things but the size of purifier(filter) has biggest impact. winix is solid imo for basiaclly 99% of the use case.

The best choice probably depends on the size of the space you’re trying to cover. For my downstairs rooms, I went with two BlueAir units (the 311 and 211 models). They also offer a 15% discount on filter replacements if you sign up for a 6-, 9-, or 12-month subscription. Hey OP. I've owned several different air filters over the years and they've all helped a lot to lower the dust level and subdue my allergies. Even the cheap ones do shit. One thing is you have to clean the filters! The pre- filter gets dirty. Fills up with dust. I do like the Winix filters from Costco. The one I've got came with extra filters, which is really nice, cause the filters are like printer ink.

Best value buy hands down! Solid CADR (clean air delivery rate) scores in all categories even on lower speed settings; quiet, energy efficient, cheap maintenance/filter replacements. That said, I believe that specific model only has a mesh charcoal filter. If filtering out VOCs and odors is important for you, consider a model that has a charcoal pellet filter instead like the Winix 5500-2. Higher cost upfront and in filters, but I personally find it to be worth it for the much improved VOC filtration.

Air Purifier for dust and bird debris?
You need something with a good amount of airflow if you want it to strip a lot of particles from the air. It will not eliminate dust, but it can help. The Winix 5500-2 and AM80 and Conway 1512 are the best pre-built bangs for the buck. Each unit covers about 350 square feet optimally. In a high dust environment, you would want to run them on a higher setting as opposed to the auto setting. Both also have reusable screen prefilters, which helps prolong the life of the HEPA filter (which must be replaced regularly.) Neither are BIFL product, but they will provide a respectable service life. BIFL purifiers exist, but they are extremely expensive and have some major downsides, such as using commercial motors that are louder and consume much more energy. If funds are limited, a Corsi-Rosenthal Box also works great, which you can build yourself for less than the cost of a pre-built unit. However, as you would not have a prefilter on it, the filters would need to be changed more often.

For you, - Winix ZERO+ PRO 5-stage Air Purifier. **Copy /paste:** I had all these except COWAY which is very similar to Winix. If you want the best value for money it's Daikin since filters last for so many years. If you want the most sensitive one, Winix 5500-2. I had daikin and this one side by side and winix reacted to cooking smell, open window etc where as Daikin only reacted in extreme cases. But keep in mind filters are quite expensive. Also look at which has more warranty, Winix usually has 2 year vs Daikin 1 year. Like very motor, it's better to get a more powerful one and let it run gentler.

Winix 5500-2 and AM80 (same unit, different look) and Coway 1512 are the best prebuilt units from a value perspective. Smaller units and larger units are less efficient, and buying several 5500-2s is more effective and efficient than a single large unit. If you are on a major budget, build a Corsi-Rosenthal Box. If you want a real BIFL purifier that will last like 30 years, the AllerAir AirMedic line is built to this standard, but they also have some significant drawbacks and are not a great match for someone just looking for particulate filtration.

My coworker loves his coways. I personally have a honeywell that’s been an absolute tank of an air purifier for years now. I recently got a Winix as well that I like although it has a light sensor so it knows when to go into “night mode.” I thought I would like this feature until winter hit and the sun started setting at 4:30 pm and my air purifier thinks it’s night time and isn’t detecting contaminates without a light on near it. I do like that Winix has a year life filter (or we’ll see) and that I can set schedules and check filter life on the app. Costco had the Winix one I got for a good price back in October and I heard they run the sale often so if you have a membership I’d check there!
