For Those Of You Who Have Ironmaster Dumbbells — Did You Feel Sick Spending That Much Money?
A 20-lb weight is a 20-lb weight. I bought a fairly complete set of cast-iron York dumbbells many (like 30) years ago and they're impossible to damage and will last forever. They're not as fancy as the rubber-coated ones, but that's what lifting gloves are all about

Is it worth it to spend 1K more on a Trane HVAC over a Goodman all things more or less equal? Any realtors on here? What about resale value?
We had a Goodman in our house when we bought it. Had one problem after another. Finally bit the bullet and had a York system installed. The York system has run flawlessly for a dozen years. I don't think the Goodman lasted a decade. It had a warranty that covered parts sure, but the major cost was labour and refrigerant.

What’s one item you bought that way outperformed its price?
Back in '97 when my dad got a new furnace, he managed to find a used York condenser from 1989 and got it hooked up for central air. It's still running great to this day. Zero repairs. Only maintenance it's ever had was replacing the pipe insulation, and hosing the dirt and debris out of it... Once.

BIFL, but also BISecondhand. What are some things that everyone should keep an eye out for, but can commonly be found for cheap when preowned.
I wanted a bench vise, so my friend introduced me to the rabbit hole of old non-Chinese mass produced vises. I now have a Record, a Wilton, and a York - I just sold a Chaz Parker. I guess I found a new vice.
