Looking for washer dryer recommendations in Canada
We have been happy with our Huebsch washer and dryer (these are Speed Queens that are renamed for Canada). I have the TC5 model for the washer.

What’s a small upgrade you made that ended up being way more impactful than expected?
I've been using F-701's for almost a decade and they are such great, solid, inexpensive EDC pens.

What’s a small upgrade you made that ended up being way more impactful than expected?
I bought a Zebra F-701 pen on a whim. It has been my daily driver for at least 5 years. I do a decent amount of writing at work and having a really smooth writing pen is something I never thought I would get enjoyment out of but here we are. This thing is all steel although I think the newer ones may have some plastic in them somewhere. Either way... it was less than 10 bucks and I use it 5 days a week.

Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
Zebra M402 mechanical pencil that I started using in college. I can’t stand to write with anything else now.

What’s a BIFL thing you bought and now swear by?
Zebra F-701 pen. Last pen you’ll ever buy. Until you lose it.

I left my Petzl Tactikka Core Headlamp charging overnight and it’s still red. Do they really only last 2 years?
Immune? No, it’s the nature of the technology. Get yourself a Zebra or Sofirn light and replace the (inexpensive) rechargeable battery when it is at the end of life. Plus, you can carry a spare battery if you are out on a longer trip

Someone left this plastic piece of junk at my work. Does anyone make a BIFL quality pen with similar features?
If you specifically want the ruler, Zebra once made the kado^2. It’s got a similar shape with the ruler, but it’s made of aluminum, and it’s a decent click pen. I think they only sell them in Japan now, I got mine from a Japanese seller on eBay.

Refillable pen suggestions
For oil based ink (hybrid/ballpoint), Pilot acroball is the best IMO. For water based gel ink pens, Pentel energel, Uni signo, or Zebra Sarasa. My favorite is the energel infree needle tip cartridges. I've tried most gel pens on the market. If you want smooth writing, go with 0.4 or larger tip size, smaller of you want more precise with some feedback and friction.

Some of my favorite BIFL EDC items.
I have carried a zebra f701 with a fisher space pen refill for about 5 years. Prefer it over my tactile turn pen.

What is a pen that you have bought for life and you actually use it everyday and it is your first go-to, as if it’s become an extension of your arm and you feel connected with the page?

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
I have loved these since the 1990s, but if you’re feeling frisky, try out the Zebra Sarasa 1.0.

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
I disagree on both of your examples. Socks might not be for life but I buy quality ones from Happy Socks, that last years. I still have a few pairs from 2019. Or you can buy a cheap thin supermarket bulk pack that you need to replace every year. Pens, I like Zebra Sarrasa Grand. I haven’t lost mine yet.

What brands do you trust to always deliver a high quality product?
In a BIFL sense - I bought Zebra Sarasa Dry pens in 2016 that I still use today. The rubber grips have deteriorated a bit over time, but I just keep my nice new ones in the office and relegate the old ones to my work travel bag.

What brands do you trust to always deliver a high quality product?
Zebra for all of my writing implements. My job is "pen and paper-heavy" so I go through pens, highlighters, and ink refills like crazy. When you spend all day writing and highlighting architectural plans, any old pen and Sharpie highlighter from the break room won't cut it.

Cheap printer exclusively for shipping labels?
I used the Highly rated Jaden printer...That damn thing never printed 1 Bar code that USPS or UPS could read...Thats my only worry that I get a printer that can print a barcode that actually works ...I guess zebra or Dymo comes to mind ..
