  What are some brands for good quality Trousers for men that lasts for life?

  I have several Zanella and Zegna wool dress trousers that I bought at thrift stores. I've had some of them for 20+ years and I am pretty sure they will last many more years. Almost certainly buy it for life for me anyway. They are very comfortable too, very soft. They are quite pricey at full retail, but not too hard to find at thrift stores, consignment stores and places like Nieman-Marcus Last Call or Saks Off 5th. I had some that were even older, but they were triple pleated and just looked too dated, so I got rid of them. I also like the older Brooks Brothers trousers I have found at thrift stores. Unfortunately, it seems like most of their newer stuff is not as well made.

  Recent experience with a Sene Suit

  Not the best answer, but i have a similar build. Wide shoulders and narrow waist. Best off the rack suit was a Zegna. Cost me about 2k, but was absolutely worth every penny. Unfortunately my legs got bigger and now i cant wear the pants and there isnt enough material to let them out.

  Plain but quality mens clothing that isn't too showy

  Loro Piana, Stoffa, Zegna, Canali, Corneliani. Suit Supply, Banana Republic, Castatlantic. All are on the more expensive side though. Alternatively, look for more „local” brands. I don’t know if you’re EU or US, but in EU most countries have nice small brands that produce locally and keep the classic/casual look with good quality.

  What's one item you've owned for years that's still going strong-and was totally worth the money?

  About 25 years ago, I bought a beautiful Zegna leather jacket for more money than I had ever spent before on one piece of clothing or at the time, for a suit, for that matter. Since then, it is consistently and is probably the only article of clothing that I own that still gets compliments when I am out in public wearing it.

  Some good articles for Europeans?

  Although the sub is very US centric, most BIFL brands in general are European, with some notable exceptions like Patagonia (which you can find in Europe). Kitchen: Demeyere, Le Creuset and Staub. I don't think there's better for cooking than these 3. Rösle kitchen tools. Italian coffee mills and machines from several high end brands. Peugeot pepper mills. Even popular Silestone counter tops are Spanish. Appliances: Miele, Siemens, Bosch... Clothing: (There's a thousand brands, but to name a few BIFL ones) Sunspel, Zegna, Logo Piana, Brunello Cucinelli, Brioni, Falke (although Socks are not really BIFL, they are for sure better than the over hyped Darn Tough around here). Luxury items: Any serious watch brands or luxury hand bags are European, just name a brand. Depending on your budget, you have a lot to choose from. And then depending on other niche stuff that you might be looking for, there's probably some local producer from Italy, Spain or Portugal that will have it in word class quality.
