  Recommendations on bread knives and opinions on Wusthof double serrated

  I quite like my Victorinox fibrox chef’s knife and paring knife even though I have nicer knives — and suspect you’ll be happy. I will say that I bought a $14 Zyliss bread knife in 2014 ([this one](https://a.co/d/8zsnOtT), in black, though not made any more), have never sharpened it, and have used it three times this week and it still is great.

  Me lol that’s why I did this - handle on my cheap kettle from target broke off, and the cheese grater I got from target as well cracked on the handle (and no I’m not the hulk, was just handling them normally)

  Help me out in hunting the best cheese grater

  \>softer cheeses can clog unless you chill them first. so make sure to do that. Doesn't matter what grater you are using, softer cheese is harder to grate. \>This won’t give big shreds like from a box grater. this one gives medium shreds Do you need bigger shreds? I have heard this before, but I can't fathom when I would ever want bigger shreds of cheese, but that might just be me. I have the Zyliss that I bought from n Olive garden during the whole viral moment a few years ago, and it works fantastic.

  : lol fair, it definitely gives off “as seen on tv” energy. But tbh, there are some decent manual choppers out there that aren’t just for one thing.   Can opener recommendations

  Considering how much hassle most can openers turn into after a few months, I’d probably skip the ones that just slice the top and leave sharp edges, they look fine but aren’t safe. Also don't overthink the cost, majority of the good ones fall within that range. My top 2 picks for you would be: 1. [Lantana opener](https://ra-sl.com/dp-B07464F5WN): Slightly different mechanism, it cuts from the side so there’s no jagged edges at all, and the lid fits back on for storing leftovers. Still sturdy, super simple to use, and the bottle opener built in makes it even more practical. 2. Ez-duz-it (ur pick): Classic for a reason. Heavy-duty feel and cuts super clean. If you're okay with a traditional top-cut opener then this is it. The only tradeoff is that it does leave a sharp edge on the lid, which might not be ideal if you're looking for something safer or easier on the hands.

  Looking for a long term good rotary grater

  the one youve got does really well only if youre really gentle with it which honestly just isnt possible. i had a plastic one too to slice cucumbers but then had to switch to a metal [one like this](https://best-reviewers.com/B0CVCS3Z41). saved my ass fr, i could literally just toss in stuff and get it done quicker. also for whatever reason had to exert less energy, the plastic ones really tested my arm muscles. this zylliss one is compact, and tbh i just dont get the point of those heavy af chonky ones. so that and it comes with 3 drums so youre set for wtv kinda slicing you want. just keep it clean and dry tho.

  No surprise the plastic ones keep breaking, they’re just not built to last. You’ll need one with a metallic body, which is easier to use and will actually last you yearss. But a lot of metal ones are bulky unnecessarily and prone to rust, so youll need one made of stainless steel. I came across [this Zyliss grater](https://dbestlists.com/dp-B0CL58858N), and itll do more than just cheese. Even if you’re just using it for cheese, it can handle larger batches than most standard graters. Plus, it’s versatile, you might end up using it for veggies, fruits, nuts, and chocolate too, which is always a bonus. It has got three different blades—a fine one for soft cheeses and chocolate, a coarse one for harder cheeses and veggies, and a cutting blade for nuts and firmer fruits so you need not worry about anything it cant grate. Oh and it’s got a sleek body so contributes to the kitchen aesthetic.

  Everyone looking for an alternative. I found a good candidate. Google Zyliss Fish Turner. The angle on the end needs to be flatened a bit with a heat gun but closest alternative I've found yet.

  My hot take on Buy It For Life

  Ha ha! It was a Zyliss one with a handle holding some kind of weird heat conducting fluid so it warms with your hand, but with the ergonomics of the Zyliss ones they still sell.

  Can opener that doesn't break in less than a year

  Try a "side opening" type. OXO, Zyliss and others have models. These leave a smooth edge on both the can and the can top, which is safer, plus the cutter never touches the contents so you never have to do more than rinse it, no rust, no clogs. Takes a bit of practice because it is a totally different "action" but it is well worth it.
