Big green is still your best bet. Although it’s over budget new (worth it!) you next best option is a used Bissell big green.

Highly recommend the Bissell Big Green carpet cleaning machine
That’s a beast of a cleaner. I use mine for deep jobs, but between sessions, I run the Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum to stay on top of crumbs and pet hair. It’s light enough for daily use and keeps carpets from getting too grimy before the next full extraction. Makes the Big Green’s results last way longer.

Can someone recommend a commercial upholstery cleaner that can do rugs and mattresses as well?
If you’re looking to buy, I’d go for a good portable extractor like a Bissell Big Green or a Rug Doctor Pro, they handle rugs, upholstery, and even mattresses pretty well. Just make sure whatever you choose has strong suction and comes with the right attachments for furniture and tighter spaces.

Look into a decent spray extraction machine, something like the Bissell Big Green or a Rug Doctor. They handle rugs, upholstery, and even mattresses pretty well, and if you’re cleaning semi-regularly it’s usually worth owning one over renting.

Best Carpet Cleaner Advice?
Previous home had lots of wall to wall carpet. I had a homeowner model Hoover that was ok but not great and had some issues. This current home has a carpeted lower level (pile carpet) and one upper room. I watched a bunch of Youtube videos and ended up renting the Bissell Big Green. I felt it was superior to Rug Doctor. The Bissell was SO much better than my home machine. It cleans on both the push and the pull. Easy to use. If I had more carpet I would definitely buy the Big Green. It's about $400. I really think it's worth the price. Look around for a rental - mine was from a local hardware store. I assumed it was better cared for than renting from a big box store or supermarket. We got the attachments for a few dollars more. Great for the stairs. You might like it well enough to purchase.
