PRO Yoga Mat
An ultra-dense and spacious performance yoga mat that has unmatched comfort and cushioning. The PRO will never wear out. Designed to last a lifetime (or two), Manuka PRO series yoga mats curb the amount of PVC mats that enter landfills every year and reduces overall mat consumption. During the manufacturing of most PVC products, toxic emissions may be released into the air. However, PRO series mats are manufactured through a process that ensures no toxic emissions are released into the atmosphere. The Manuka PRO is certified safe for human contact by OEKO-TEX*, a material certification agency in Europe for the textile industry.

Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
I have a giant square manduka pro in my living room. I think it’s a truly BIFL item.

Their PRO mats are awesome, really the gold standard. There's a good reason pretty much every yoga instructor I've ever had used their mats. If you practice at home the PRO Long & Wide is worth a look, the extra real estate is amazing especially if you do other core workouts or mat Pilates or extended stretching routines. But they're heavy and bulky so not something you'd want to roll up and take to the studio.

Dark gray manduka pro. Have owned since 2018 and still looks and feels new with at least 2 days per week. Doing yoga on any other mat will not feel the same. Once you go manduka you don't go back.

My Manduka pro is 10 years old. I dont do yoga but use it a few times a week for Pilates and other exercises. My large dogs walk all over it, people borrow it and jump around on it in sneakers. It still looks brand new. It is indestructible. I couldn’t imagine not having one.

They are great quality but on a bit more of the slippery side. There’s a whole process involving salt and sun to make them less slippery but I haven’t bothered. The pro is heavy and large, too heavy to tote around to classes in my opinion. I do think they are BIFL and I like to have one at home. But for travel/classes I really like the 5mm lululemon mats: perfect level of grip, easy to transport, good level of cushioning. If my joints are feeling a bit achier I layer this one on top of the Manduka also. It’s softer than the Manduka and the grip makes it easier.

I got the manduka pro 6mm in a pretty color but yes it’s quite slippery :(. I also got the Manduka X version (smaller and 5mm) and I will have to see if it’s grippier

Manduka is my favorite mat of all time. I have several other brands and always reach for the Manduka. If you were planning to take the mat with you to class, consider the Manduka Pro Lite. It’s thick enough for the knees and comfort, but not so heavy that it’s cumbersome to haul around. If your mat is for home use only, then definitely get a thicker one. The Pro weighs 7.5 lbs and is quite thick when rolled up.

I've been using a Manduka Pro for a couple of years. I take 3 yoga classes weekly, and my mat still looks new. It took some time to break it in and get rid of the greasy coating, but once that was removed, it's been a wonderful mat. I expect it will last for decades and am glad I purchased it. I like it so much that I also grabbed a Manduka block and strap. Both are excellent quality as well.

My Black Mat Pro def feels like a BIFL item. I have had it since 2009 and I don’t see replacing it anytime soon.

Name your top 5 BIFL items
1 Manduka Pro yoga mat. At 6’3”, I wish I’d gone for the tall version, but the thing really IS built for life so I’m stuck with the standard size 😆 2 Nomos Tangente Watch (hand winding version). Aside from servicing, this is a (dressier) watch for life. 3 Lamy 2000 fountain pen. Classy yet durable! 4 Grohmann slimline folder pocket knife. 5 Feather safety razor. Honourable mentions: My seemingly indestructible meditation cushion set (brand unknown), and titanium gongfu/gaiwan tea set.
