Got a Peugeot Pepper Mill for Xmas and it doesn't work well.
Went with the Männkitchen Pepper Cannon and haven’t looked back.

Looking for a pepper grinder that doesn’t leave a mess (and won’t fall apart in a year)
The Mannekitchen pepper cannon is expensive but AWESOME. It grinds a ton with each twist. Solid metal construction.

Is Männkitchen BIFL?
Late to join this convo here but I feel strongly enough to share my experience with the Männkitchen brand. As an avid home cook and someone who worked years in the restaurant industry, I can say without a doubt that the Pepper Cannon ranks among the best kitchen purchases I have ever made. Regardless of country of origin, I would say that this product is on par with the quality and longevity of brands like Le Creuset, Staub, and Wüsthof. Sure, you can buy a Lodge Dutch oven or a decent, stamped, no-name chef knife… and if you take care of it, it will treat you well for years. But the small details, the thoughtfulness of design, and the overall build quality of the legacy brands are what make them BIFL. Yes, Männkitchen is a new brand, and yes, they are made in China, but the design and quality of this product are exactly what you expect from the best of the best. On to my experience: I bought my first Pepper Cannon in 2021, and am now going on 4 years of daily use. It still grinds as smoothly and quickly as the day I got it. I am a heavy smoker (not talking tobacco!), and I frequently need to grind a quarter cup or more of black pepper for beef briskets, Boston butts/pork shoulder, ribs, or any other number of smoked meats. On average I do one big smoking sesh per week, and I need huge quantities of black pepper for creating the best bark. Also my wife is Italian and so we make a lot of cacio e pepe and other pepper-forward dishes. My original Pepper Cannon has been a total game-changer for my cooking. No more cranking a cheap mill for 2-5 minutes to get the pepper needed for a recipe, and waaayyyy better grind size consistency than using a blade grinder like a cheap coffee grinder. Since my original purchase, I have purchased two more Pepper Cannons for gifts to family, a Salt Cannon, the Mini “Travel” Cannon, and am currently awaiting delivery of the XL Pepper Cannon in May 2025. My family have reported that that love their Cannons, use them daily, and can’t believe how much better they are than the cheap mills they were using before. The next time they go on sale, I will probably purchase a couple more for wedding gifts or other family. As for the company, they will take care of you should any issue arise. Back in 2022, there was an issue with one of my orders, and Cleve personally responded and fixed it immediately. They also make a number of other equally well considered products like their garlic press, which I also use almost daily. To address the one flaw that others may have pointed out: The rubber gasket on the removable base cup is the weakest link on the Pepper Cannon. The first gasket on the base only lasted about 1 year before giving up, but I realized that by being diligent about gently twisting the base as you disconnect or reattach the cup, the gasket is actually pretty durable. The spare 2nd gasket (free and included with purchase) has since lasted 3 years and shows no signs of degradation yet! If and when it does give up, it’s probably about $0.50 to order a replacement online, and the mill’s performance is not compromised if this fails, it just means that the base cup /paper-catcher won’t stay attached without holding it on. Overall: the Pepper Cannon is 100% worth the price. If you like a lot of pepper, the sheer amount of time it will save you is worth every penny over the long run (how do you value your own time?) I would buy it again and I will buy more in the future. It is definitely BIFL. And Cleve if you’re reading this, I’d love a discount code on my next purchase!

BIFL S&P grinder with no plastic mechanism (I don't want a mill and here's why)
If you’re willing to spend the money everyone touts MannKitchen’s pepper cannon as bomb proof. I bought a Hexclad pepper grinder a few weeks ago and have been pretty impressed with it. And it’s nearly half the price of the pepper cannon.
