What product category has gotten worse in quality, even at the premium level?
People should search teardowns before they buy and find out whether the batteries are held on with screws, adhesive, or solder and how much stuff is in the way. I'm not a super tech-inclined person, but I can do a search and follow instructions. I've replaced batteries on Sony WH-1000XM and WF-1000XM line headphones/earbuds before. No solder, but the amount of glue they use is pretty obnoxious (supposedly the WH-1000XM6 battery is held on with screws now instead of glue, but I haven't done that one). All you need is to open the ifixit tutorial and to order a battery (or a cheap replacement kit if you don't have the other stuff).

I’ve got a big noggin and the Bose feels like it’s mashing my ears. I don’t have this problem with the Sony’s. Lack of physical buttons is annoying, though the gestures do work well once you learn them (also annoying).

I have or had all of them. When traveling my top priority is not punchy bass though, my priority is ANC and more of a flat response because I'm watching movies/shows. So I want dialogue and not heavy bass/explosions. Of those 4, the Sony's were the bassiest and the best for music

Ive had the sony xm5 earbuds for 3 years and they are the best in terms of sound quality and active noise cancellation. With the app you can control a lot of stuff and they can help with choosing which is the best sound suited for you. I lost them last year and bought them again because they are the best (personal opinion). Also, they are comfortable to wear but not for a very long time

I've been hunting for reliable travel earbuds that last forever (strong ANC for flights, long battery, comfy for hours, and tough build) and tested a bunch for real-world trips. * Best overall for most travelers: [Sony WF-1000XM5](https://www.bestfindown.in/best-earbuds-for-travel-complete-2026-guide/#1_Sony_WF-1000XM5_The_Complete_Package) – top-tier adaptive ANC kills plane noise, 24hr total battery, super comfy foam tips. * If comfort is priority: [Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II ](https://www.bestfindown.in/best-earbuds-for-travel-complete-2026-guide/#2_Bose_QuietComfort_Earbuds_II_The_Comfort_Kings)– unbeatable fit for long-haul wear, personalized ANC. * Value/active pick: [Jabra Elite 7 Active](https://www.bestfindown.in/best-earbuds-for-travel-complete-2026-guide/#4_Jabra_Elite_7_Active_The_Balanced_Value_Pick) – 30hr battery, secure grip, IP57 for sweat/rain on the go. The Sony's been my go-to on multiple international flights – no fatigue, battery lasts the whole trip

I've used my wife Sony xm5s a few times and they are incredible. Like better than I thought headphones could be. But I haven't tried the others. I just bought her the best reviewed ones on the market.

I have had a few. The Bose for excersize and because the other ones either fall out of make my ear hurt after 15min and Bose had a different way more comfortable earpiece. The Sony I like for the sound. But with my iphone I keep reaching for my airpods, because of the noicecanceling and ease of use when I make a call and instant pairing.

I have 3/4 (Sony, Jabra, Bose) of the ones youve listed, I pretty much use the Sony for everything except for indoor cycling, where I use the Jabra - they cope with sweat better, and the mic is better when I am exercising. The Bose live as my spares now.

Looking for quality wireless earphones
Sony WF-1000XM5 or Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, both are super durable, sound amazing, and hold up well with daily use.

In ear headphones. Plz help. Tired of replacing constantly.
I’m going on 2 years with my Sony wf-1000xm5’s wear them about 10 hours a day during the week. They sound great have good noise cancellation and the battery is good will last all day if you charge them during lunchtime. Had I pod pros before this and those a great with better transparency mode but one of the buds died within a year. Sony is a the way to go!

Bose Quietcomfort 25 noise-cancelling headphones- the best I've personally used.
Bose more comfortable and sturdy. Sony sound better and I think they offer better noise cancellation. The Sony hinge is weak and lots of people break it. However I slide them on instead of stretching them open to plop on my ears. I have the QC25 that someone gave away, and the Sony 1000x (mark 1). I also have the AirPod Pro 2. I feel the AirPods have better NC than the Bose but don’t sound as nice but it’s a different feel because they are inside the ears.
