In an age of things designed to be replaced, what currently-produced 1) trucks, and 2) cars come closest to BIFL?
Toyota still makes the Land Cruiser 70-series for some markets. It's geared toward industry and trade work, rather than consumer use. I've watched people in hot & sandy places put these through an incredible amount of stress and abuse and they just keep ticking.

I asked my husband and he said landcruisers (70s series). Based on the fact they haven’t changed the design fundamentally in 40 odd years, and people are reporting keeping them even with hundreds of thousands of miles on them. I am no car expert though ;)

Large SUV BIFL Request
There are many older cars knocking around in South Africa that have been passed down from one generation to the next. Toyota Hilux and Land Cruisers, Nissan 1400, a few VW models and various others that have been going steady for almost 50 years. The LC 70 models are still sold here and are easily BIFL cars.
