Which online retailer should I order a tv from, John Lewis or richersounds?
Go with whoever gives you a proper multi year warranty right up front... the longer the cover for the actual panel the better because that's the bit that usually dies first TVs fail the same way whoever sells them, panels burn out and backlights cook themselves and once an edge lit array gets cooked unevenly you're basically stuck because you're not fixing that in your living room Check they send someone to your house because dragging a huge telly back to a shop is a joke Make sure they do dead pixel swaps without the whole silly argument over how many are acceptable this can drag on forever Richersounds usually throws in long warranties and John Lewis does on plenty of models too so it’s really just whichever gives the better cover on the one you want LG C series OLEDs and Sony midrange LEDs are fine as long as they’re under that extended policy otherwise you’re just rolling the dice

Which brands/products have gotten better over time?
True. I’m not sure what other OLEDs LG makes but anything in the C or G series will be great. Rtings as you mentioned is also an amazing tool for comparisons, that’s how I ended up buying mine.

How are everyone’s OLED Televisions?
LG C1 48“ - got it when it released, used it a lot for gaming and streaming over the last years. Still runs perfect. Had some light burn in issues once but the tv did its self repairing thing and it was like new after that (and still is) Was going for LG back then because they‘ve been the only company manufacturing these panels. In the next few weeks I will buy another one and it will be the LG G5 65“

How are everyone’s OLED Televisions?
LGOLED from about 2017, Its the 65 inch and its on its "last legs". I don't mind it but my wife sees discoloration and things that I guess I just don't care about. Not sure what TV I'll get next. Otherwise it's been a great TV for 8 years and I paid about 1200 I believe.

Looking to buy a tv for my first home and want make the right purchase
A friend of mine who always purchases top of the line anything, spends way too much time searching Reddit for things like this like me, and works in tech swears by LG OLED. I’d absolutely take their word for any product recommendation

What are the Best Smart Tv Available Now?
I think LG OLED is the best. I have a few, and compared to Samsung panels, they are noticeably better. Better to me that is.

Buying a decent TV in 2025
My parents' 2017 LG C-series OLED had terrible burn-in and some of the colours were no longer accurate either. They have just replaced with the 2024 LG C-series. Hopefully, this one will last longer.

65" TV Recommendations
LG G-series is the better built version if that's what you're aiming for. Given the bright and direct light you're mentioning, that brightest you can afford is what you want. I have the LG C3 in the basement with very little light and it gets bright enough, but couldn't imagine in it in a very bright room.

65" TV Recommendations
I did quite a bit of research on OLED TVs about a year back and ended up going with the LG C3. I only needed a 42/43 inch for my desk which was a factor, but if I were to go with a larger TV it would probably be the LG C series. Happy to describe my experience with the TV further if needed.
