The 21st Century Ruined Everything 😭
Try LL bean for coats. If you want to go cheaper, try fb marketplace or vintage shops. You might even find last century models. Lol Try Lowa’s renegade hiking boots. It’s a Canadian brand REI sells them. I have a pair that have lasted. Comfortable and good in snow.

Tennis shoes for standing/walking all day
Good pair of hiking boots. Lowa renegades are solid for what you describe plus they’ll last. If your set on athletic shoes then hoka makes good on your feet all shoes. But no athletic shoe is buy it for life due to their materials.

Prolonging the life of shoe soles
There are dozens of different Vibram sole designs, no doubt also different variations of rubber. Trail running shoes tend to offer less ruggedness equating to fast wearing out. In the Merrell category, I've great experience of the Lowa Renegade (hiking shoes) in the past with rubber like car tyres. If you'd prefer boots that can be resoled then R. M. Williams Comfort Craftsman, proven work boots with a surprisingly long lasting rubber sole. If you live anywhere near Adelaide then its a bonus or just take them to a RM Williams stockist for resole.

Recommended Shoes for All Day Wear
My first suggestion would be Brooks, but you said you already tried those. Nurse shoes are very good for long hours in hard floors, like danske. One other thing you might try: when I need to stand so day in concrete or just on my feet well day, I reach for lowa renegades. Softer soles ankle length hiking boot. Unreal support and comfort

best shoes for wide feet and high arches?
I have the same type of feet. Check out Lowa Renegade GTX mid hiking boots. Not exactly your aesthetic but they are wide and supportive as anything. I am on my feet 8-10 hours a day in these and love them.

Ladies, what are the MOST comfortable boots you’ve worn for walking 10k+ steps a day?
I'm not a lady, but I live in boots and are hard on them. Also a comfort queen. My two go to for comfort, durability and reasonably office friendly are lowa renegades, and Clark's salesman boots.

11 year old Columbia boots still going strong
I don’t know man. How much do you hike? The tread on the outsole from my Columbia boots were completely gone in like a year. Same thing happened to my wife’s pair. Upgraded to a pair of Lowa Renegades with a vibrant outsole. Have double the miles on them with no signs of wear.

A new or lesser known brand you're trying, hoping it becomes BIFL-ish
I did a lot of field work one summer in a big group and three of us had relatively new Lowa Renegades. All six of our boots split the seams at the outside edge of the toe box. This was back in ~2014. In retrospect, I should have looked into the warranty, but didn’t. All that said, they were comfortable the day I bought them, they were comfortable for that summer where I put ~60 miles of hiking unimproved trails and steep slopes on them, they were comfortable for a year of working construction, and they’re still my only hiking boots (and still comfortable!). I still wear them here and there for odd jobs, hiking, in the snow, etc. The soles are only now getting worn to the point I’m thinking of replacing them. Everything else is perfect (save the toe Sox seam, of course). Hope yours hold up!

A new or lesser known brand you're trying, hoping it becomes BIFL-ish
I have Lowa Renegades that I've worn for several seasons and they only look a little worn at this point. I replaced the insoles with some Superfeet and they are chefs kiss comfy. Make sure you take care of them and do proper boot cleaning and you'll get years of good use out of them. They are technically resolable, so says the Lowa website, but I've never actually known anyone who did it so I can't comment on the result. Honestly, if you don't get 2 full seasons out of them I'd be blown awayand wondering how you managed to tear them up.

i have lowa renegades from 2011ish. they’re a bit too beat up for hikes these days but i still wear them for messier chores, yard work, etc. if you *don’t* get two full seasons out of them, i’ll be shocked. (i also have ‘new’ pair purchased in 2021 and a 2023 pair of evo ices. both seem to be same level of quality as my 2011s.)

I'm hoping my latest are 'the ones' -- Lowa GTX Mids. German boot. They've been SO good after one season. If I get two full seasons, I'd never switch.
