Brands That Used to Be BIFL — But Aren't Anymore?
Wearing RedWings in the office right now. Look at their heritage line of boots, well-made, durable and made in the USA. I have a pair of blacksmiths I use for the office and iron rangers for the home/weekend warrior.

Tired of shoes lasting 6-12 months. What to get?
Get Iron Rangers and Blacksmith from RW. Both great boots, will last you way longer if you rotate, and you only need to get sized once since they're the same last.

Tired of shoes lasting 6-12 months. What to get?
I take care of the leather well, and only wear them 6 months a year, but my red wing blacksmiths have lasted my 13 years.

I have the Blacksmith in CRT, I bought them marked for defect at about $250. 3 years in and I have no idea what the defect is.

Tired of shoes lasting 6-12 months. What to get?
I’m come to this conclusion as well. Most sneakers while initially comfortable are made of PU and are designed to fail and break down. I also have been going back and forth between Red Wing BlackSmiths and Iron Rangers. Just be aware the thick leather will be stiff and break in period will be a bear. Recommend thick wool socks. Darn tough makes socks specifically for boots.

Tired of shoes lasting 6-12 months. What to get?
Can't speak for the Riekers, but Blacksmiths were my first set of good boots. They just turned 15.

Tired of shoes lasting 6-12 months. What to get?
I have the Blacksmiths and I love them dearly. I've brought them to Germany, Czechia, France, Canada, Mexico, and all over the states. They look good everywhere. They can be worn casually, or with a tucked in button down shirt. Once these wear out, I'll repair or replace them. For me, it's the perfect leather boot.

10 years later — still the best boots I’ve ever owned (Red Wing Iron Rangers)
Yea ..kids these days don’t get it ..they have been conditioned by advertisers to pay $200 for white sneakers that fall apart within 6 months whilst deteriorating after first wear! My Redwing cherry Blacksmith are 22 years old they get softer with every wear almost daily for the first 10 years still excellent today

Comfortable Repairable Boots?
You need wool socks or a blend. I recommend the mid or light weight darn tough socks which are BIFL. If you're going for boots all day yah go over to /Goodyearwelt for direction and kudos to the guy that pointed out Viberg. You would also dig the redwing blacksmiths.
