18V LXT Cordless Combo Kit
The Makita 18 V compact Lithium-Ion cordless two-piece combo kit is built for the pro-user who demands best-in-class Lithium-Ion cordless tools for drilling, driving and fastening in a compact size. It's part of Makita's expanding 18 V Lithium-Ion series, the world's largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18 V Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18 V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controlsâ„¢. Star protection is communication technology that allows the Star protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18 V LXTÂ and compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating star protection inside. The CT225R includes a 1/2 in driver-drill in a compact size for increased versatility. The kit also includes an impact driver that weighs only 3.3 lb yet delivers a full 1460 in-lb of maximum torque for fastening and driving applications.

Name your top 5 BIFL items
1. Camelbak 32oz water bottle 2. Makita Drill/Driver 3. Danner Boots 4. Classic JanSport Backpack 5. All-Clad Stainless Fry Pan I've had all these for the better part of a decade, and never had an issue with any of them. They'll be passed down the generations (save the boots... big feet)

What’s the best electric weed wacker?? Suggestions needed
I've got a Makita 18v. The power head supports a pole saw too. The pole saw is pretty mediocre, the weed wacker is great. I don't think dual line is worth the hassle. Its much more difficult to restring dual line. You can save a lot of money buying bulk line and restringing your own. I also don't think extending the shaft is worth it. I bet 90% of those ever sold are at the length they started at...

Which tool brand ecosystem would you invest in for 2025 and why for the occasionally frugal DIYer?
Happy with the Makita system. Just cracking into the 40v lineup now but I have been running all manner of yard tools on the 2x18 36v system for years. Best selection of yard tools if you do any of that. I blow snow off my sidewalks with the 36v blower and my neighbours spend twice as long with their Dewalts and Milwaukees. I've removed large trees with 2 chainsaws on the platform (one for climbing, one for bucking and felling) I have a power head that will run a brush saw, line trimmer or pole chainsaw which all work great. Dedicated weed eater that is very powerful and light as a feather. Very happy with the circ saws, subcompact drills (incredible, small drills), jig saw, orbital sander, tire pump pump My 40V tool is a vacuum that I use to vacuum my house. I will replace all of the above on this platform when those bite the dust. I've been running most of the above tools for 8 years now.
