90-day returns
Brew cafe-quality coffee at home with the Moccamaster by Technivorm KB in brushed silver, a beloved choice for coffee lovers who care about both flavor and consistency. Designed to make your morning routine smoother and your coffee breaks more enjoyable, this automatic drip coffee maker brews a full 40-ounce pot in just six minutes, so there’s always enough to share when friends or family drop by. The KB model features a classic glass carafe paired with a manual-adjust brew basket, giving you control over how quickly coffee flows into the carafe. Slow it down for a more extended extraction or speed it up when you want your pot ready fast—the choice is yours, and you don’t need to be a barista to get it right. This thoughtful design helps you dial in a brew that suits your taste while still keeping things delightfully simple and approachable. A standout feature of the KB is its unique hot plate, engineered with a separate, independent heating element that gently rolls heat into the coffee. Instead of blasting your brew with harsh, direct heat, the hot plate maintains an even temperature from the first pour to the last sip, helping preserve flavor and aroma. The auto shut-off hot plate also offers two temperature settings, so you can hold your coffee at either 175°F or 185°F without worrying about it scorching or turning bitter over time. With its sleek brushed silver finish, the Moccamaster by Technivorm KB looks at home on any countertop, whether you’re brewing your first cup of the day, topping off mugs during a leisurely brunch or pouring after-dinner coffee for guests. This is a coffee maker built to support everyday rituals and easy gatherings—just good coffee, brewed well, ready whenever you’re ready to pour another cup.

My coffee maker needs replacement - but is Moccamaster more hype than BIFL?
I have a 20 year old Cuisinart that the past 5 years was only used for when I had guests. I've mostly been doing pourover on a ceramic Hario or Kalita. I recently splurged on the MM KBGV (got one for $240 on Black Friday week Amazon-returned it because I got a lighting deal on one for $179). I did a head to head comparison of taste between my MM and the Cuisinart. The MM tasted notably better taking the same amount of water, same amount of coffee and brewing in both machines. That said it's not going to match my pourovers but for drip coffee, it's about the best drip I've tasted in over 50 years of drinking and making coffee.

My coffee maker needs replacement - but is Moccamaster more hype than BIFL?
I own a Moccamaster from the KGB select line and it is great. Just a simple drip machine for very solid filter coffee. It only uses 2 switches so there aren't a lot of mechanical parts that could go bad and for the basic components, they sell spare parts for a fair price.

Need a quality coffee maker
I'm pretty sure my cheap machines were leaking plastic or paint into it somehow unfortunately which is why I saved up for a more expensive one. It tasted similar to how burnt plastic smells. I saw some people talk about Moccamaster in other posts so it's interesting my post made you think of that one. I will go read up on the reviews for it :)

SAFE alternative to Bunn MyCafe Coffee Maker?
The most common answer will be Moccamaster. For sake of providing more options, look at Braun Multiserve. It is versatile and has single cup, half pot, and full pot brewing options.

SAFE alternative to Bunn MyCafe Coffee Maker?
Try asking about this in the r/coffee or r/jameshoffmann subreddits. Someone might have a fix for the ejecting hot coffee drawer issue. But if you’re intent on getting some new equipment, they’re going to tell you to get the moccamaster. I don’t have one, but apparently they’re pretty much the definition of bifl - where everything on the machine is repairable

Thank you BIFL Community, Looking Forward to Great Tasting Coffee for a Looooong Time!
I am in the same boat. I did inherit Moccamaster GCS from my grandmother. I belive its from the 90'ties and it just keep going and I just love the design. Its a shame they dont make that model any more.

What have you used the most at home these two years?
I've seen a few people recommended Technivorm coffee makers. In general I like myTechnivorm Moccamaster coffee maker, but I never drink more than 1-2 cups of coffee and don't have guests often. So it's much more machine and counter space than I need. If you aren't making going through a whole pot, I'd recommend against it

What have you used the most at home these two years?
They're really amazing. I have ours plugged into a timer so it brews before I get up. I have an espresso machine, French press, and a mokapot, but the Moccamaster is basically all I use these days. Amazing product and I'll always own one. Probably the same one given how great it's been for nearly a decade.

Looking for a coffee machine that lasts forever
Mine failed after about 2 years (leaking from the base). Their warranty service is okay, but this is not necessarily a bifl product. That said, we did buy a replacement Moccamaster and have had no trouble with that one.

Looking for a coffee machine that lasts forever
I have the Moccamaster KBGV Select. Basically its like making a pour over grade coffee, but for 6-10 cups at a time. It brings the flavor out of the beans. The problem is if you buy cheap coffee beans, you can tell.

Looking for a coffee machine that lasts forever
Honestly, go for a Technivorm Moccamaster if you like drip . They are built like a tank and parts are replaceable. For espresso, Rancilio Silvia is the best option. Both are pricey upfront but last forever if you take are of them.

Best coffee maker? Is there anything new in 2025?
I know that I'm never again buying Nespresso Vertuo. I think it's overengineered with a single purpose - to patent a brewing system and exclude capsules from free producers. Nespresso Original, however, ticks all your boxes. I have one, which is 20 years old. Easy to learn (just drop a capsule in) and lots of great choices available. You get espresso though, so if that's not your cup of coffee, then go for Moccamaster.. I mean, everybody hates and wants to boycot Nestle, but you don't have to buy coffee from them, there are lots of great taste options available from indepe dent makers, even from.supermarket own brands.

Best coffee maker? Is there anything new in 2025?
I know everyone is saying Moccamaster, but I have to agree. Specifically the KBGV select model. That changes the flow rate so you can make smaller batches which is what I do normally. I've switched back and forth with that switch on smaller batches and it really does make a difference. From someone who strictly only used the Aeropress and Chemex for years, this machine makes damn good coffee and I use it all the time. If you just follow the recommended grind/water ratios provided from the manufacturer, you'll have no issues. I do think it's overpriced though. I was a bit disappointed when I first got mine because of how much plastic was used, but it seems like they don't cheap out on the parts that matter. With that said, I'd wait for a sale on it because, although its a great machine, I do still think it's overpriced. I've had mine for a year and use it every day.

Coffee maker Recs Moccamaster or Bunn for smaller pots?
Check the features on each Moccamaster model. Some have a setting for brewing either a full pot, or less than full pot. I have a KBGV model and it is quite nice.

Moccamaster Coffee Brewer
Love the thermal too! I got the 10 cup version which is glass on the inside. I do think it improves taste!

The Best Coffee Maker on the Market to Buy?
Seconding Technivorm Moccamaster for the $$ tier of coffeemaker, but choosing Kalita Wave and Aeropress for $ tier and good

The Best Coffee Maker on the Market to Buy?
If you want something that lasts and makes great coffee, try the Technivorm Moccamaster or a good pour-over setup like a Chemex. Simple, reliable, and tasty!

All the best products/brands to buy for life?
Victorinox knives. Mocamaster coffee machine. Saddleback leather. All clad pots and pans. Tweezerman tweezers. Seki nail clippers. Parker Jotter pens. Texas Instruments calculator. Maui Jim sunglasses. Estwing hammer. Allen Edmond dress shoes. Honorable mentions that are top quality but not for life: Melin hats (closest to bifl caps). Vornado fans (5-10yr warranty). Thursday boots (great price to quality ratio).

My BIFL trio. Worth every penny
Lol why downvote? He is right and gave a true bifl suggestion.

Plastic taste in my coffee maker… looking for new one. Any suggestions?
Exactly. Guys, come one. So many coffee posts, but for me it’s moccamaster every time. What makes something bifl to you? For me, top quality product that produces top quality results and, while it is reliable, if it would fail there are replacement parts available. For coffee, that is a moccamaster. This and a dualit toaster are kitchen bifl staples. Now, if you don’t mind cleaning a percolator every morning….. that would be another story. Not much to go wrong on those.

What home coffee essentials have held up and lasted you over time?
Bodum French press: broke one years ago, re-bought and it’s too simple to fail. Technivorm Moccamaster: workhorse for daily coffee and I expect it to work with regular cleaning and descaling for years to come (my previous Bonavita coffee maker also held up for years). Breville smart grinder: holding up well now for years, I’m concerned the grinder teeth are starting to wear, but still works well every day. Trying out a secondhand Flair espresso maker but seems to be sturdy. Hamilton beach kettle: bought for $20 and I’ve wanted a fancier gooseneck one but this one won’t die and works perfectly.
