Straight razor for personal grooming
>Skip the shavettes. They look like straight razors but the disposable blade setup has enough slop to make the shave worse My experience is purely anecdotal but I have been using my Parker heavy stainless shavette for about 10 years and a properly seated blade has never moved during a shave. I went this route because I need to be clean shaven for my job and I often need to shave away from my house. Its more compact than a safety razor and I spend about $10 a year on blades without the need for any real maintenance.

Do we value things more when we pay more for them?
Same goes for sunglasses. Pay $150 for a pair, you’re less apt to lose that pair. For me it’s time invested, not money. To your pen example, I buy cheap ($10-$20) pens, but I picked them after trying several, searching online for what I wanted, reading reviews, scouring EDC sites and subs. Now my $11 X701 and $15 Parker Jotters never get lost, left around or stolen. I’m invested, just not monetarily.

What’s one item you bought that way outperformed its price?
Parker Jotter has never failed me in the year's I have had it. feels just as nice as the day i got it! haven't used any pen since. $13 well spent I say. a $10 kindle I bought a couple years ago (that was already a decade old). set to be completely offline, i read books on it for months on a single charge, really can't fault it at all.

Parker pens. I have been using the same parker pen for over 4 years. Easy to find refills on amazon. The pen is amazing. Can't recommend it enough. something like this: https://www.parkerpen.com/jotter-pens.html

What is a pen that you have bought for life and you actually use it everyday and it is your first go-to, as if it’s become an extension of your arm and you feel connected with the page?
This is the way. Such a great refill. I use them in Parker Jotters at the moment mostly, but also in a fairly cheap bolt action pen I got off Amazon. Bastion I think was the brand.

All the best products/brands to buy for life?
Victorinox knives. Mocamaster coffee machine. Saddleback leather. All clad pots and pans. Tweezerman tweezers. Seki nail clippers. Parker Jotter pens. Texas Instruments calculator. Maui Jim sunglasses. Estwing hammer. Allen Edmond dress shoes. Honorable mentions that are top quality but not for life: Melin hats (closest to bifl caps). Vornado fans (5-10yr warranty). Thursday boots (great price to quality ratio).

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
I managed to keep the same pilot, refillable pen throughout college, but I'm also the type of person who never lost a guitar pick playing a gig. I've had the same Parker jotter, Fisher bullet and cap o matic space pens and no name TI Bolt action pen for years now as well. Assuming that is because I always either have them on my person or in my bag and I never let anyone borrow them.
