Android phones that can last a long time?
For the last decade Samsung Galaxy has been good to me. Note 9 lasted until someone stole it by which time the Note 20 was out which I use currently and it's still mostly fine. Battery life is starting to go, but that's only to be expected. I kind of suspect the 26 or 27 will be out by the time I replace the 20.

Android phones that can last a long time?
I've had 3 pixels in a row. There's nothing so wrong that I don't trust them. The problem is they never feel premium and the price goes up every damn year. I used to buy them because they were a great value but with the increasing prices I'm switching to Samsung next phone. My last Samsung was a Note 8 and it lasted 4 years! As far as BIFL, tech will never be BIFL because security updates will eventually stop and your devices will be increasingly vulnerable.

I need to keep this phone for as long as possible!
My Note 8 is still very good. Struggling a bit recently with video processing but it's I think 8 years old. Got my use out of it.

Anyone here have a Samsung appliance after 5 years that hasn't had a problem?
Do Note 8s count? Im hooked on this exact phone and theyve never failed me. Ive destroyed several though. I may eventually buy a new model, but I enjoy this one and have bought it 5 or 6 times since launch.

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
>Most phones become obsolete before they physically break. I had to replace the operating system rom its running on but my oled screened Samsung Note 8 is still neither obsolete or broken. The only thing that I think can be improved on it would be the camera and even then I'd much rather have a separate camera anyway that uses the samsung phone to upload the photos to the cloud through bluetooth, or simply has a wifi implementation for passive upload when I get home. If anything many newer phones obsoleted themselves by removing a 3.5mm audio jack, or having smaller screens for stylus use
