Looking for a good vinyl player
Get a used Technics. If you can spring for it an SL-1200 is a rock solid forever table. Otherwise SLD2 or similar is a good budget deck no fuss no muss. Nothing that you don't need and a built in strobe to make sure you're spinning at the right speed.

What did you buy not realizing you bought it for life?
They’re also juuust about “audiophile” quality, especially with a non-DJ oriented stylus/cartridge. Technics of that era - including the 1200, 1400, 1500, 1600 etc are built like tanks, are generally repairable, and sound great. They hold value well if you need to sell. I have an automatic 1600 bought broken for $20 maybe 25 years ago. Still works great.

Need a good record player
BIFL is the **Technics SL-1200 MKII** You can't go wrong with it, if you're not insanely audiophile. But it's bulletproof, good built and audio quality. Is properly analog (you'll need a phono pre-amp). The pitch adjust is irrelevant for most, but is also kinda' cool. Everything else in the consumer and DJ space uses the Tech12 as the landmark.
