If you want reliability, Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4 are the go to choices. You could also look at Lexus and Mazda. I tried the Honda and Toyota and ended up with a 2021 CRV (partly because I’m 6’4” and found it a much more comfortable size for me).

Own a 2024 Rav4 hybrid and it is a quality vehicle. Previously owned a hybrid Honda and can say that the difference between the technologies sure feels way superior in the Toyota.

Rav4 FTW. 50 mpg is my record, 40+ was typical. Downside: 4x8 plywood is just a little too wide, no real towing capacity, made of tin foil so one deer collision can total you.
