PLEASE HELP IM LOOSING MY MIND
I would either get a Mac or a Framework. The Framework laptops are designed so that you can easily swap out parts. Maybe a Dell Latitude depending on the model(make sure to get one that doesn't have the ram soldered to the board).

What laptop should I get as a student?
If you already have apple products go for macbook, you won't be disappointed. If you want to try out windows laptops try business series: Lenovo Thinkpad, Dell Latitude, HP Probook (just as an example, do not buy them). They have extended warranty and are overall better built and designed.

What is the best laptop brand for long term use?
It's not about brand, it's about not having everything soldered or glued. I have a Dell Latitude, the ssd is not soldered, the memory neither so I can upgrade those and extend it's life. In addition, it has screws so it's easy to open it. Most, if not all, ultralaptops or very thin laptops are not serviceable. If something breaks, you throw it out. Anyway, look into business models or the Framework that some have mentioned.

What is the best laptop brand for long term use?
Dell latitude, the boxy ones. Cheap, utilitarian, no frills. Indestructible plastic. Still using my 2016 15" daily. RAM, SSD upgrades. Not fast but it's travelled a lot, been dropped, lived in my backpack and keeps on running. Its their "business" line, not retail, so to speak. I've had lots of probs w/ their other lines.

What is the best laptop brand for long term use?
What you want to buy is a business-class laptop with the latest generation processor from AMD or Intel. It should be a model that comes with a 3-year or longer warranty standard. The warranty is the key here - that’s how you get better quality. Business-class laptops are easier to repair and generally have spare parts available too. A laptop with a standard 1-year warranty with add-on warranty available isn’t the same quality level as one that comes with a longer warranty standard. Also, don’t buy any laptop from a big-box store. They are most likely to have corners cut in the manufacturing. Call the manufacturer and ask what models have the best warranty available without an add-on warranty. As about any deals or specials on those models. HP for example sells ‘smartbuy’ models that save money over a custom order build. HP - Zbook Dell - Latitude or Precision Lenovo Thinkpad Fujitsu Lifebook Panasonic $$ Getac $$ There are probably a couple other manufacturers out there worth buying, but these are the ones I’ve bought plenty of over many years.

Which laptop should I buy in 2025?
I like refurbs from Micro Center or Dell Outlet. The deals come and go. I got a last-year’s-model refurbished Latitude with in i7 and 32GB about a year ago for about $750.
