What product category has gotten worse in quality, even at the premium level?
I don’t care about repairability when the damn thing almost never breaks down. I still have a MacBook Pro from 10 years ago, I replaced the battery but other than that I’ve never had to fix anything, I’ve never even formatted the thing. Still works.

Best laptop for video editing in your opinion currently that can works well in long-term use?
MacBook Pros (especially the M4 Pro or M4 Max models) offer excellent performance, hardware-software integration, amazing battery life, and run Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve like a dream. The mini-LED XDR display is also a huge win for color accuracy, and macOS tends to age more gracefully than Windows with fewer driver issues over time. If money isn’t a constraint, the 16-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro with at least 64GB of RAM and 2TB storage is a future-proof beast. Hope that helps!

What did you wish you had at 21?
In 2025 this actually isn’t a bad idea. I’ve had my M1 MacBook Pro for like 4 years now and can’t see myself needing to upgrade for another 4 years, or more. A new one today should last a decade or more!

What laptop should I get as a student?
I have MacBook Pro since 2020, use it everyday for at least 6 hours for school and it’s doing just fine. Even spilled coffee on the keyboard once and I was able to solve that by myself

Finding Laptop To Buy
If you aren't wedded to a specific OS, then for the apps you are looking at, an M4 MacBook Pro is your best choice. Get an external monitor for it and you'll be set for the next 6-8 years.

[Request] Consumer-Grade (not military spec) Laptop with the longest lasting hardware/hinges
Macbook Pro. I'm still using the one bought in June of 2010. It was my primary work machine until 2014 and still gets used every day. If you really want a Windows machine I would go with a Lenovo or maybe one of the business Dells. Something I discovered with my work issue Dell recently is that it's designed for water to be spilled on the keyboard. It has drain holes to let it run through. I accidentally tested this feature and haven't had any problems.
