Im a big fan of Fjallraven Kankens. I’ve put mine through the wringer and it’s held up just fine. I like that the main pocket unzips all the way and is square so you can fit all your textbooks there. Also some have a padded laptop sleeve if you need that for classes. They sell add on shoulder pads that can be replaced too.

Brands That Used to Be BIFL — But Aren't Anymore?
A Fjallraven store opened in my hometown and they've got a whole repairs counter set up, I feel like that's a really great indicator of BIFL personally. I haven't had reason to use it yet, but I am not kind to my small kanken lmao, I'll probably need to check it out soon.
