The Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical H69449961 model will attract especially military style lovers. The design of the watch refers to the brand's cooperation with the US army. The new Khaki Field Mechanical is a faithful copy of its original predecessor from the 1960s and is true to Hamilton's military heritage. This is the original military-inspired watch, built to last. The entire Khaki Field line is focused on very good legibility, which was the most important thing for use in the military. Khaki Field watches are made for the adventurer in life and are guaranteed to meet your needs in the field. Inside the case, the Hamilton H-50 Swiss mechanical movement (based on the ETA 2801-2) with manual winding ticks reliably. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 semi-frequencies per hour, has 17 jewels and, above all, an extended power reserve of 80 hours. The PVD-coated steel case is complemented by a green textile NATO strap. The model stands out for its excellent legibility and easy clarity, which is required in military watches. The dial, which in its form does not deny the military model, is protected by a sapphire crystal. The sapphire crystal is a great advantage in watches as it is almost impossible to scratch. The hands and indices are coated with Superluminova luminescent compound, which guarantees longer luminosity. The 38 mm case diameter makes the watch wearable on most men's wrists. The water resistance of the watch is 50 m (5 ATM), so it can handle basic contact with water, such as rain or a shower.

Watch recommendations for class and comfort
For sub 1k: look at Tissot (PRX), Hamilton (Khaki field/pilot watches), or for independents: Yema, Baltic, Traska (just a sampling). These are great starting points. For 1-3k: I think the world of Longines. Probably best value and quality in this bracket and across all prices ranges (if you ask me). Also consider Nomos, Oris, Christopher Ward. For 3-5k: (still below Rolex/Omega) consider anything by Tudor. I've focused here on quality mechanical watches. These do require maintenance every 3-5+ years, so there will be ongoing expense (\~$300 for basic service). But the upside these are robust everyday watches that often have good water resistance ratings (can go swimming in), are stylish and polished enough to be worn dressed up or down, are built to last a lifetime if properly maintained (Tudors and Longines especially), and versatile enough that you can build a 1 watch collection and not sink down the rabbit hole of watch collecting (a dangerous and expensive habit).

Marathon watches - Are They BIFL?
I'd recommend a Hamilton Khaki Field. Either quartz or mechanical depending on what you want. But if you care most about function and don't want an analogue watch you can't beat a G-Shock. Pick whichever most appeals to you and go from there. If you like a smaller watches, I'd recommend a square G-Shock. I like the DW-5600 on my small wrist. There's also a solar powered atomic clock version for about $100. I wouldn't worry about the battery either since by the time it has to change out, a mechanical watch would require maintenance anyways.
