Made in Japan. The KALITA Wave 185 MINO Pottery Dripper combines Japanese tradition with modern coffee brewing excellence. Handcrafted in Japan using the centuries-old Mino Ware technique, each dripper undergoes a meticulous process, from chrysanthemum kneading to the final gloss firing. This technique, originating in Gifu Prefecture, offers a rustic, natural satin finish and earthy tones, bringing warmth and charm to any space. The MINO's flat-bottom, 3-hole design paired with Kalita 185 Wave filters ensures an even extraction for smooth, balanced coffee free of bitterness. Its 20-wave filter and dripper minimize contact between water and the filter, allowing for an even flow and rich, full flavour. Perfect for home or cafe brewing, the Kalita MINO reflects the craftsmanship of Oribe, Setoguro, and Shino wares. Whether you're serving 2 to 4 cups, the MINO dripper delivers not just exceptional coffee but also a touch of artisanal beauty to your brewing ritual.

SAFE alternative to Bunn MyCafe Coffee Maker?
I love my Hario and Kalita wave pour overs. Come in various sizes depending how much you want to make from a pot to a cup. I almost never use my Technivorm anymore because I really don't like consuming things heated around plastic or with water sitting in plastic

Recommendations for coffee machine - single serve?
I own a stainless steel V60, but personally I would buy a stainless Kalita wave or even a 185 cone for more consistent results if you don’t want to mess around with grind too much. I find it a bit odd your last machines have been K-cup machines but then you say the most important thing is no plastic. To me that just seems super weird. If you want a more automatic experience, Moccamaster makes a little dinky “single serve” version of its excellent machines and they are most definitely BIFL. Not sure it will meet your new ‘no plastic’ requirement though. https://us.moccamaster.com/products/cup-one

Looking for espresso machine
If you choose to be economical, you can go for manual coffee. The tools you need are: Gooseneck Kettle: Control the water flow rate. A narrow-mouthed kettle is recommended. Dripper: Hario V60, Kalita Wave, Chemex, etc. Filter Paper: Match your filter cup size and brand. Burr Grinder: Even grinding is important. It is recommended to use an electric or manual conical grinder. Scale: Accurately control the ratio of powder to water (commonly used 1:15 or 1:16). Timer: Helps control the extraction time (usually 2-3 minutes). Coffee Beans: Choose beans suitable for hand brewing (such as medium-light roast) Thermometer: Make sure the water temperature is between 90-96°C

what is the best coffee maker you've ever used?
I like the Creano XXL but I also removed the plastic basket arm and lid from the carafe. It works with the same in place but it’s tight. There are many threads on this. If you want to keep the basket arm in place the Kalita wave, Kalita 102, Hario V60, or Cilio, or Orea all work. I tried the 3 hole Kalitas with the arm and found placement too finicky. I prefer to use #4 filters so went with the big one.
