Do Merrell shoes fit true to size? Or do they run small or large
Old post but I can say with confidence...its kind of all over the place. You should try them first if at all possible. I have 8 pairs of merrell shoes. Some are a bit narrow like the Alpines, some slightly narrow but work if size up like trail gloves, moab wides run a bit long but perfect for my wide feet, the wrapt run big. The fit and feel on my feet of Alpine 11.5 is similar to wrapt 10.5. All that said, even though sizing can get confusing, I hike and walk a lot. They make the most comfy and dependable/long lasting shoes Ive owned which is why I have only been buyinh merrell past few years for all activities, all times of year.

Looking for quality but inexpensive snow/ outdoor boots
Keen makes solid stuff but might be pushing your budget a bit. For $90 you're probably looking at more like Merrell or Columbia territory. I've had good luck with Merrell Moabs for muddy hiking - they're not the prettiest but they'll handle slush and light snow just fine. The waterproofing holds up decent too

I'm on my 3rd pair of Merrell Moabs and really like em. Got them on sale the last 2 times (one at outlet for Black Friday and another later via Slickdeals when it popped up online). You're not going to get much more time out of them, though. Soles are wear-down items. May be able to swap out your interior sole with something from Dr. Scholl's or similar.

To everyone who told me I bought fake Merrells : Update
That’s crazy because I have two pairs I’ve worn through all kinds of shit. Long motorcycle trips, long hikes, backpacking through multiple countries for weeks or months, general daily wear, running and exercising, at work. God knows what they’ve been drenched in. They’re both the Moab iirc. Got them like 8-10 years ago.

Shoes for long trip / hike
Hoka Anacapa 2 Low GTX are the most comfortable ones imo. Merrell Moab 3 are also good.

Best hiking boots for men - Suggestions needed.
After years in heavy leather hiking books that were way too heavy and rigid for the type of hiking I do, I changed to the light weight trail-type boots. I had Merrell MOAB (excellent), North Face Vectiv (rubbish) and now Adidas Terrex Free Hiker (excellent). These are not BIFL though.

Sneakers or boots for daily wear.
I do a ton of hiking, fishing, bike riding, and I'm a very large man. I've found Merrell Moabs to be the most comfortable shoe that I can get 2-3 good years out of. I find them on sale for $60 and buy a few pairs. I also have toe pain, and these are the only shoe to help me with that. I have only bought Moabs for the past 10 years, and I will continue to only buy Moabs until they stop making them.

I just got a pair of Moab 3s and like them very much. I'm old and don't do any hiking, but I find them very comfortable and easy to put on and take off. I expect to wear them for quite a while.

I literally live in my Moabs, on my third pair now but I wear them daily at this point and put them through it. I always get the high top, waterproof version, eventually they have to be cleaned and re-waterproofed but most things do.

I'm backpacking through Asia 7+ months in so far on Moab 3s and it's been fantastic. Still some tread left but it's getting to needing being replaced in the next couple months at this pace. Unfortunately BIFL it is not, but even with Merrell's quality supposedly going down on the 3s, I've had good experiences with them after lots of hikes, and many full submersions and drying it in the sun. And lots of alcohol sprays to get rid of the funk, yuck.

Merrell's Recent Quality?
A Store in my town was closing out with a 40% discount on all their inventory. I picked up a pair of Moab 3 and a pair of mid ankle hiking boots, wife got a pair of Keens for total of about 220$ - was awesome. Everything item was marked down from 130$ to like 70-80$ each. Should be good for awhile!

Merrel Moab 3s are tough as nails
I was skeptical to buy Moab 3s, but Ive been wearing mine daily throughout SE Asia. It’s been half a year of wear around cities and mountain treks through Taiwan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and still going strong. Reading the reviews I expected a short life for these but it surprised me pleasantly. Hope I didn’t jinx the durability now after singing its praises. Submerged and rinsed fully 3 times and air dried in the sun. Not BIFL though but it’s quite durable.

Best simple, not overly-engineered shoe for walking 12k steps/day?
I regularly do 10 to 15K steps a day at work. I've been wearing Merrell Moab low-rise for over a decade. Obviously they don't last forever, but they work great for my feet and last as long as anything else I've worn.

Going to Europe, suggestions for comfortable, not-ugly walking shoes that will last?
They may be a bit ugly to some I guess, but I will always recommend Merrel Moab 3. They’re the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn. I’ve owned mine for 3 years now and wear them to the gym 4 days/week and hiking 2 days/week. They’re still in great condition and had zero break in.
