Best Carry On Luggage for 2026?
TravelPro, if not this then Briggs and Riley. Osprey backpacks work pretty well, the Dayk Lite 26+6. Tumi was my bag of choice for the better part if a decade but really went downhill when they went Nylon and dumped the lifetime warranty. For two decades I flew every Sunday Wednesday and Friday mostly US Air. It was TUMI then. I'm a casual now, maybe 10 flights a year. My BnR Garment bag looks brand new after 5 years. I swapped out my Osprey for the BnR XL backpack 3 years ago with similar results. Osprey was starting to fray at the seams and straps but man it held its own.

Backpack suggestions?
I love my North Face RECON backpack for work. Great protection for laptops and plenty of storage for books and other electronics. For travel I have the Osprey Daylite 26+6. It opens up like a suitcase. My wife and I recently did a full 10-day trip with just Daylite bags as a carry-on.

Looking for a canvas convertible backpack/messenger bag
I had similar needs as you but i also needed to carry gym clothes and shower stuff with my laptop and my work related stuff. I got the osprey daylite 26 + 6 and i absolutley love it. The clamshell design lets you access and pack everything efficiently, the lapotop pocket is well protected and easy to access and it's a great bag for weekend trips. it can be expanded to 32 liters wich for me is plenty for a week and it can, not expanding it and not filling it to the brim, fit in a free personal item airline slot. It's not canvas but the fabric feels sturdy and osprey is famous for the 30 year warranty that comes with every backpack, i know a dude who asked for a repair on a broken zip on a 5 yo bag and got a band new one. Hope this helps!

Looking for a canvas convertible backpack/messenger bag
I had more or less the same needs as you but i also needed to carry gym clothes and shower stuff with me to work. I got the Osprey daylite 26 + 6 and i'm in love with it. I carry it everyday to work and in weekend trips. the clamshell design lets you access and pack stuff efficiently, the laptop pocket is easy to access and decently protected, the extra pockets are really well thought out, it can be expanded to 32 liters wich for me is plenty for a week out and, if not expanded and not complietley filled, can fit in a free personal item airline slot. It's not canvas but the fabric feels sturdy and osprey is famous for their all mighty 30 year warranty that will cover almost every repair or replacement you will ever need, a friend of mine (with a different model) asked them for a repair for a broken zip on a 5 year old bag and got a brand new one. Hope this helps!
