Looking for a coffee machine that lasts forever
A rancilio Silvia, I've had mine for 15 years as a daily. I had to replace the boiler once which I did myself.

Looking for a coffee machine that lasts forever
I bought a Rancilio Silvia Espresso machine used a long time ago, never had ANY problems with it. Just do the ocasional descaling maintainance, and im confident it will continue to make great coffee every morning for many years to come.

Honestly, go for a Technivorm Moccamaster if you like drip . They are built like a tank and parts are replaceable. For espresso, Rancilio Silvia is the best option. Both are pricey upfront but last forever if you take are of them.

Non-Plastic Automatic Coffee Maker?
In general I think it's a very good time for coffee nerds with this specific concern - the release of the Aeropress Premium shows that companies see demand in this area & a large number of the home-oriented espresso machines have no plastic touching water (e.g. Rancilio Silva). Unfortunately the automatic filter machines are probably the area that's there's least interest/demand/innovation/new releases so you're largely stuck with older more classic products, which are likely to have plastic. As a lot of other commenters here have mentioned - Moccamaster seems like one of the best options here. Plastic water reservoir & filter basket but still relatively low on plastic overall compared to competitors.

BIFL automatic espresso machine?
This. My Rancilio Silvia is 6.5 years old and pulls at least 4 shots per day (around 10k total lifetime shots). Only after several years I had to do a tune-up kit ($30). It is paired with a Rocky Grinder of the same vintage.

BIFL automatic espresso machine?
It depends on how automatic. Fully automatic will never be BIFL. The most recommended I see is the Rancilio Silvia based on the simplicity of the internal components.

Best Coffee machines recommendation?
Hario V60 for pour over Aeropress for immersion brewing. Gaggia Classic, or Rancilio Silvia for espresso Moccamaster or Sage/Breville precision brewer for drip.
