BIFL Socks that ARENT darn tough?
I have had my pairs of smartwool socks, specially the light cushion hiking socks, as my everything socks since 2018 and I will die for them. The heels have been heavily darned by now as of the last year and they still rock. If you pick the right design you can wear them with suits, boots, running shoes, or in your birthday suit as house slippers and they function great.

Which Smartwool socks should I get for walking (no hiking)
i would go light weight in terms of cushioning. the utra light are fine but they will wear through faster on you. they are the only ones i ever put holes in. and they are not that much thinner than the light weights. I have a few light weight but mostly mid weight which are fine year round, and 1 pair of heavy weight i wear in the winter if i am going to be standing around for a while outside.

These Smartwool socks lasted me less than a month…
The socks are not meant to be used as slippers. I use Smartwool light cushion socks year round in Texas. I use them in work boots and in sneakers. The 5 pairs of smartwool's have been going strong for 4 years.
