Sperry Gold Cup Orleans Lite Leather or Gold Cup Full Grain Leather?
I had a pair of Sperry shoes that look like the Gold Cup photo that I got second hand with a good amount of wear already and they lasted for at least 6-8 additional years of heavy use. The biggest aspect beyond the leather quality is maintenance - cleaning and keeping up with waterproofing - and then the wear of the sole. I think the Gold Cup looks nicer and the tan soles might be easier to find replacements when the sole wears down.

Sperry Gold Cup Orleans Lite Leather or Gold Cup Full Grain Leather?
No however mine are ~4 years old and I can’t speak to how they are constructed now. I just compared my GC pair to an old pair of Sperry originals which I keep around as a beater yard work shoe- the leather is noticeably softer, the insole has more padding and more comfortable and overall the shoe is just better constructed. I would go through a pair of the originals every 18 months or so before a stitch would tear on the outsole. I don’t baby them; wear them 4-5 days a week for about 10 months out of the year. For me the GC versions are a good value proposition. They are well made, regularly on sale (in the States at least) and are the classic preppy/Ivy look that are incredibly versatile style wise. However BIFL they are not.

Sperry Gold Cup Orleans Lite Leather or Gold Cup Full Grain Leather?
I love boat shoes and actually have had the second pair for ~4 years. While the Gold Cups are definitely more durable and better materials than their entry line (having owned both I will only buy GC going forward), I wouldn’t say it’s BILF. Someone else mentioned Rancourts and I’d agree with that recommendation. I own a pair of their penny loafers and the quality/craftsmanship is top notch.
