110 Hunter Folding Knife
In 1963, Buck was able to combine the most important features for an outdoor knife into one groundbreaking pocket knife with a backlock. There was a demand for a sturdy and reliable knife without taking up much space. The Buck 110 Folding Hunter is equipped with a blade made of high-quality steel and a strong locking mechanism on the back of the handle. The handle also has a comfortable curve that ensures that the fingers do not slide forward during use. The Buck 110 has managed to retain its popularity over the years and has become a true classic among pocket knives. Robustly made with brass bolsters and equipped with finger grooves.

BIFL small pocket knife with a gut hook?
The Benchmade Hidden Canyon Hunter has a gut hook and is definitely BIFL quality, though it's more of a fixed blade than pocket knife. If you need folding, Buck's 110 Folding Hunter sometimes comes with gut hook variants and those things are basically indestructible

What’s the BIFL item that you love but everyone around you thinks is ridiculous?
Many people would only find one mildly helpful. I can't live without mine. I'm a maintenance manager. I run a large (600+ unit) multifamily property. Like the commenter above, I also use a Buck 110. It has been used for: Opening inventory shipments Scoring vinyl planks to break to size Prying up floor planks Cutting carpet Cutting out caulking Shaving down panels of sheetrock Pruning plants on the grounds Cutting zipties Quick sharpening a carpenters pencil Scoring a board to mark for a cut when I can't find said pencil Preparing foods while hiking Whittling Shaving down sticks for kindling Processing game Cutting Paracord to size Honestly if you regularly use *any* kind of tool, you'll get a lot of mileage out of a good knife. If using tools in general isn't relevant to your life, then either don't bother, or go the other direction and spend $700 on a benchmade you'll never use that matches your wallet and wristwatch and go get some karma on r/EDC.

My Buck 110 pocket knife. There are way more advanced pocket knives out there but the 110 is a classic and a beast. Basically the knife equivalent of a 1970 Dodge Challenger.

What is the equivalent of "Apple removed 3.5mm jack" of your favorite products ?
I just said fuck it and now I carry a Buck 110 in a little sheath. No clip, big handle for big hands, still readily accessible without digging through my pockets

What’s something you’ve bought once and never had to replace?
I was thinking my victoronox. Some of these multitools are just built like tanks. On the same note, my buck 110. Carried everyday since I got it at the start of high school, and showing the wear and tear to prove it, with regular maintaince that thing will be used for my entire life and beyond.

Buck 110 - the classic. I received this for my 14th birthday in 1982. Keeps a great edge, even through my abuse over the years. I've only polished the bass bolsters once - now I value the patina. I don't carry it on my belt as much as I used to, but it is my around the house utility knife.
