BIFL : Commander by Emerson Knives the only knife you can completely take apart and the warranty is still good
What do you mean by it isn't in vogue? Well I've got a few so far. My favorite is definitely my contego, though I can't use it as much as I'd like. The longer blade seems to bother some people. I've been using a mini recon as my work knife and it's fantastic. Blur was before that but the steel kept chipping. Thought about picking up a rift to have a more widely usable contego, but I think I want to save for a zt. Sebenza just didn't seem to have anything that jumped out at me in terms of value for what it costs. But I suppose that's one of those things you have to experience first hand.

The triad lock is the strongest lock in the world. It's a lockback varient though, and those aren't in Vogue at all. Check out the inventor of the triad lock, Andrew Demko, showing one of his customs picking up weight on the handle - he stops at 800 lbs cause he was out of weights. The sebenza is a knife you have to use - it's underwhelming at first, but there's more to it under the covers. It's an outstanding design, and it's what everything gets compared to. people get bitter about the price, and they want a miracle that blows you away - but that's not what it is. it gets better with use. If you don't like it, or don't like the price - that's fine, it's not for everyone. Honestly, it's much like a mechanical watch. If you want to just tell time, then it's of no use. If you are interested in it's mechanics, in it's general joy to use - that's different. If all you want to do is to cut things and don't care how you do it - a Sebenza might not be for you. If you want quality and you just want a tool and you're not into knives -- get a Doug Ritter Griptillian in M390 and be done with knife buying forever. You might want to put a new scale on it though.

they're absolutely not and you clearly don't understand the engineering or the design in the knife. If you don't like it, that's fine but what you are saying is outright false and misleading. The design was and is a pinnacle design. it's not the only one, but it's one of them and it still is even after 21 years.

>I have no need to take it apart. It's well built. Obviously you have never worked in the mud or grime. What would you do if you dropped your knife in something that couldn't just get rinsed out? Or wait you have never been in that situation and had to use your knife in a dirty dusty environment regularly. >I've used the knife daily for almost 5 years. I have yet to have any screw come loose. I also have no need to tear down the knife. The way it's designed, I can simply rinse it off. Like I said before you do not work in an environment were your knife EVER gets genuinely dirty. Not everything just rinses out like you claim. You won't have the tools you need to lubricate , or tear apart your knife in the field. I bought something that is BIFL and that I can tear down in the field.

>And I think you out way too much emphasis on being able to pull it apart. I don't know what you're doing with the knife that even makes this necessary. I'm pretty rough on some of my knives and have never had to disassemble. I'm sorry but if you have never had to tear down a knife clean it and reassemble it you aren't using your knife on a regular and daily basis. guess what dirty and grime build up and it needs to get cleaned. especially for a folder... emerson lets you completely dissemble the knife and the warranty is still there

Defect analyst at a tire manufacturer. I cut through layers of rubber and Kevlar daily. The blade is also used as a prybar often and to cut against steel or concrete. I'll do a reshape/thorough sharpen about once every 6 weeks on an apex or some stones. I usually touch up the edges once a week on a sharp maker, but it all depends on how much damage I do to it. I can still get it to a shaving edge no matter how much I do with it.

>1.) Kershaw 2.) Spyderco 3.) Benchmade none of these have the wave feature emerson is the fastest knife outta your pocket >I personally think that blades in the 2.5 to 3 inch range are the most practical in terms of weight, common usage, and form factor in pocket but a lot of people like the feel of larger knives. I personally think 3.75'' is pushing it for edc, particularly in a knife as bulky as this, but whatever floats your boat. maybe in the city but the further you are out from civilization you typically want a larger and larger blade simply put these smaller handled blades don't grip as well they are too short plus i can ride up on the blade of the emerson and there are grooves at the top to make sure my finger doesn't slip if you are doing heavy work with a knife that longer handle, and just overall over built quality really makes it bifl

I'm sure not every knife emerson has every made is perfect but overall i really like how tough their knives are and you can pull this knife apart and its life time warranty is good when a knife drops in the mud you gotta tear it down to clean it IMO most knives this voids the warranty but not with Emerson.

Not a cheap knife, but I also like the fact that they will change which side the pocket clip is on so that your knife can be used with either hand! the chisel grind is also superior to the V grind from a BIFL stand point and especially a SHTF standpoint.
