My coffee maker needs replacement - but is Moccamaster more hype than BIFL?
Buy a baratza encore grinder, hario v60 pour over set, and a gooseneck kettle first.

What was the best purchase you made this year?
Do you have a proper grinder? I made the move to a Baratza Encore first (i.e. new grinder, kept the old coffee machine) amd it was a game changer. Getting a Moccamaster after was the cherry on top. Don't neglect a proper grinder. A good coffeeachine will massively elevate even ordinary coffee, but the grinder will help tweak acidity and bitterness to make that great cup of coffee a wonderful cup of coffee.

Looking for an electric coffee grinder
Look for Baratza Encore. That's a very basic yet reliable grinder. However, If by filter coffee you mean something like V60, I wouldn't recommend it, much less anything cheaper.

What's a purchase under $50 that has genuinely improved your daily routine?
James Hoffman just did a test where he compared fresh grounds from a Baratza Encore ($150) grinder versus day old grounds from a $3500 commercial grinder. The Baratza won, hands down. You can get cheaper burr grinders, but why overthink it. The Encore has been around a long time, it’s proven reliable, and parts are easy to find if needed.

What's a purchase under $50 that has genuinely improved your daily routine?
As someone who's used a baratza encore for several years now after using pre ground coffee, it's worth it. It's not the best grinder but it works well and when little plastic bits break (and they will) they are inexpensive and easy to source from the manufacturer website.

Tiny coffee gadgets that make a big difference?
I just replaced the burrs on my 10 year old Baratza Emcore grinder. I love that Baratza sells replacement parts. Great grinder and better company.

Black and Decker Coffee Bean Grinder
The quality of the grind produced by these little blade grinders is definitely lacking. I’m surprised the motors last as long as they do. I don’t think buying a new one off the shelf today would have the longevity of ops. That said, for the budget conscious (unfortunately still not “cheap”) the baratza encore is a nice grinder for the price with replaceable parts meant to last a life time. There are also fantastic hand grinders from e.g. 1zpresso, Comandante, and others at all kinds of price points that are definitely bifl.

What purchase changed your habit?
The Barratza Encore is a quality entry level electric grinder. I’ve used mine every single day since buying it. I can’t believe I waited so long before getting one, makes my mornings so much easier! I was using the Hario hand grinder before but switching to electric has been a game changer.

Good, long lasting generic spice grinder? (planned obsolescence killed mine - plastic threads stripped).
Baratza Encore. Electric, adjustable, ceramic burr. It's an older version of [this](https://www.baratza.com/en-us/product/encoretm-zcg485).

Where do I find a good manual coffee grinder?
Bought myself a Baratza Encore just before Christmas. Very happy with it.

Where do I find a good manual coffee grinder?
You’re looking for this. https://www.hario-usa.com/collections/grinders Hario is an outstanding coffee brand. However, once you experience the pain of manually grinding beans, just get yourself a Baratza Encore.

Where do I find a good manual coffee grinder?
Just get the Baratza Encore. It’s the best (not crazy expensive) grinder you can get. It is electric, but it is fully replaceable/repairable and an incredibly simple machine.

Need a Coffee Maker Recommendation Under $100 CAD
Oxo conical bur grinder (baratza encore if you want to spend more) Hario v60 pour over set (02 size) Maybe a gooseneck kettle if you're feeling fancy For one person, you do not need a machine. Also, try sourcing some higher quality medium roast coffees.
