What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
Yes! I have been through several Dysons…. The original one that came out back in 2007, lasted forever, should have gotten it serviced again and kept it. Followed by Dyson Animal upright, Dyson stick, etc. all gone in 3 years. Have a Miele C1 now and I’m obsessed.

Dishwasher with no smart features
Miele. They are expensive, but they are built to last forever and many of their base models still have zero smart features. You just press the button and it runs. Look specifically at their Classic line, not the fully integrated ones, as those sometimes have more tech hidden away. Skip the Bosch headache altogether.

Vacuums: Miele or Sebo?
It was as simple are the Sebo felt more comfortable and easier for me personally to move around. That and the brush roll height adjuster on the Miele gave me trouble. Could be just a me thing. Both machines are great

Advice for first vacuum purchase in new apartment
Something bagged, for sure. Will never go back to canister vacuums. Love my Miele C1 but it doesn't have the powered brush, which you'd definitely want for carpet.

What are some of the best products/brands you love splurging on?
They are! Better than a $80 Amazon stick vacuum but MILES behind something like a basic C1 Miele yet just as expensive.

Miele Vacuum worth the cost?
I’m new to the Miele family, but my MIL has had the same for 15 years and told me it was THE brand to go with for longevity, so I’m convinced. When I bought mine about four months ago, I was so confused by all the different models and the vast price differences, with some models being hundreds more than others. Another Redditor shared this [spreadsheet of vacuum cleaners](https://www.reddit.com/user/lacking_foyer48/comments/1lj76h3/vacuum_cleaners_compared_comprehensive_datasheet/) with me that let me compare all the models in one place. I ended up choosing the C1 because I have mostly just low pile rugs in my home, so I didn’t really feel like it was worth the price difference to pay for the C3, which is what my inlaws have for their fully carpeted home.

Best vacuum cleaner?
When I was growing up, my mom had a Kenmore vacuum that she would take every couple of years to get fixed at the little service center inside Sears, and I swear she had that vacuum for over 20 years altogether. They just don’t make them like that anymore! I agree with the other posters here who have mentioned the Miele brand (which I believe is German?). I think it’s the closest you’ll get to a BIFL option. When I was shopping a while back, I came across this [vacuum comparison list](https://www.reddit.com/user/lacking_foyer48/comments/1lj76h3/vacuum_cleaners_compared_comprehensive_datasheet/) on another subreddit where someone listed out all the different available vacuums. I ended up with a C1 (pretty basic model), but they have lots of options that I’m sure would suit you.

What do you mean? The Classic C1 is [190€](https://www.otto.de/p/miele-bodenstaubsauger-classic-c1-powerline-800-w-mit-beutel-1609681649/#ech=29151723&variationId=1609681994&article=75019213&assortment=641) and the [complete C3 cat&dog](https://www.otto.de/p/miele-bodenstaubsauger-complete-c3-cat-dog-tierhaarentfernung-geruchsneutralisierung-890-w-mit-beutel-12m-aktionsradius-hoehenverstellbares-teleskoprohr-1609690327/#ech=29151724&variationId=1609690699&article=65796234&assortment=641) is 330€ (some other complete C3 models maybe even a bit cheaper). It's not even 50% more.

Best vacuum cleaner?
Just bought a Sebo D4 last weekend. 10 year warranty (no paperwork required for service - they use serial number). Super long cord. Big bags. Great filter. Easy maintenance. Power head brush pops right out for cleaning and has no exposed bearings. It replaced a Miele C1 which is also good, but too small for our house and lacks a power head.

Vacuum for home use - pls recommend
I’ve had a Miele C1 for several years. Bags and filters are easy to get. If you don’t have pets or very thick carpets, the C1 is a third the price of a C3.

A new or lesser known brand you're trying, hoping it becomes BIFL-ish
My housekeeper recommended i buy a Miele C1 four years ago. It's still going strong. This week, she was going to ask me to buy a different one she must have seen in a client's home. I stopped her before she could finish .
