What BIFL mistakes have you made?
I absolutely love my Darn Toughs, have several pairs that I’ve been rocking for years, but with that being said, I only go for specific socks from them. The boot length hiker cushion and full cushion. I am not a fan of their technical socks. In fact I have thrown a few in the garbage before I figured out that I needed to just stick to the socks I already had and knew. Their ski socks are legit painful to wear, and their technical lightweight hikers and cycling socks are about the same. Anything sports related I do Smartwool or Ice Breaker. Ice Breaker ski socks are phenomenal.

Best Darn Tough Socks for Year Round Use
I've worn the midweight hiking socks in 90+ F weather during the summer and 40 F weather in the winter and been comfortable both times. They definitely get sweaty during the summer but they dry quick and didn't cause blisters even on a 10+ mile, 2500 elevation gain hike.

What style darn tough sock do you have and why would you go to bat for it?
[Men's Mountaineering Over-the-Calf Heavyweight Hiking Socks](https://darntough.com/products/mens-merino-wool-mountaineering-otc-full-cushion-heavyweight-hiking-socks?variant=37874214731962&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PM_PLA_Warm_Zombies_US_Mixed&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17720352684&gbraid=0AAAAACalYIK41H7e6UxyOpbSNQSWH4i1K&gclid=Cj0KCQjw18bEBhCBARIsAKuAFEalV-eXCS9_Of_u9Di0NoPZ9lQWMeQr_6A2wTO7zsm-09y3LMVNW58aAtC6EALw_wcB) I bought wool socks because I was having a moisture problem with my feet in my work boots. First I got a few pair of the Men's Hiker boot and 2 pair of the Paul Bunyan over the calf socks. After deciding I liked the over the calf style I looked again and found the socks listed above. I bought them and they are hands down the best socks I've ever had. Very soft, cushioned, amd don't slide down my legs like the Hiker Boots socks. They are also tall so they protect my calf from chafing in cowboy boots. I wish I could exchange all my other DT socks for more of them.
