Daily driver laptop thats lasted 22 years.
Dell manufacture some excellent laptops, I had a Latitude which lasted 16 years of daily use, and not a single issue until the graphics card failed, at which point I upgraded to an XPS laptop.

What laptop should I get as a student?
Dell XPS 13. Got mine refurbished in 2016 and it's still going strong. They're small, powerful, physically well-built, and repairable if you need to swap parts down the line. For an added bonus, wipe it and put Linux on it (like Linux Mint or Ubuntu). It runs much leaner than Windows and adds many years of usable life before things start slowing down.

What is the best laptop brand for long term use?
Mac is by far the most durable and reliable. The fact that they do the hardware and software and there is no bloatware in there alone makes it times and times better. If you have to go Windows, I'd recommend Dell. But you have to go to the higher end lines like XPS to get good quality. Lenovos aren't as good as they used to be.
