What are some of the best products/brands you love splurging on?
Some things, it isn't the name brand that matters. Just check reviews. If the brand matters I tell the brand I recommend. If you want serious kitchen recommendations, check out *America's Test Kitchen* on YouTube. *"Lodge cast iron Dutch oven**. These are workhorses. You can use them on top of a stove, in an oven, on an outdoor grill or even in a campfire. You can cook a roast, make soups, bake bread and even bake cakes. **Lodge cast iron reversible griddle**. This can be used for pancakes, roasting vegetables, baking pizza, baking bread, cooking steaks. Like all cast iron, it can go from stovetop to oven to grill to campfire. **"Made-In*** **stainless steel 12 inch skillet** **Lodge cast iron skillet**, 9 or 10 inch *Kitchen-Aid mixer**. Especially if you cook from scratch. **Stainless steel nesting mixing bowl set with lids**. Ideally a set of 7 bowls. They work for storage as well as mixing. Stainless steel is easy to clean and can survive being dropped or even a hand mixer. **Lodge cast iron bread/loaf pan**. Good for meatloaf, quick breads and regular bread. Can be used on top of the stove, in the oven, in a grill, wherever. **Pullman bread loaf pan**. **Crofton (Aldi) bread boule baking set**. The lid can be used over other pans on the stove or oven and the base can be used to cook non bread items. **Speed Queen washer** **All-American pressure canner**. This can be used as a general stock pot and used for high-acid canning. They are heavy enough to be used on the stove and on a grill.

Maybe moving soon; should I take my 2014 speed queen with me?
So when we were selling our house in 2020 someone put an offer on our house and wanted our washer (2014 Speed Queen), and dryer (2012 Electrolux) and I was like okay no problem. They were offering over asking. They ended up backing out of the deal so we got to keep them but I would have bought the non water saving Speed Queen washer (the Classic, I think) and bought a new Speed Queen dryer. Still using the same washer and dryer today so yes kind of happy we didn’t sell them. Our agent though forgot to take the appliances are included in the purchase of our house so we ended up giving away what the old owners left.

Need recommendations other than an LG or front loader washer
Speed Queen TC series. It will wash Queen size bedding, don't let the drum size fool you, it's a full fill machine, not half fill of the competition, also can hold 2X the load (lbs) than the competition. https://youtu.be/D69WRI5HvtI?si=aQzMIaLSnvG-CtG5 https://youtu.be/lrpbbYwwUY4?si=yXO2rKiwAMhSufT0

Recs for top load washer that’s gentle on clothes
Get the Speed Queen TR series. The TC has an agitator that is rougher on clothes, but it is a must if you work in a dirty environment like automechanics or farming. The TR is a non-agitator that is fine for the majority of home and office environments. Also, if you are worried about mold in a front loader, don't be. Our Speed Queen front loader is over 10 years old, the difference is you need to wipe down the rubber gasket after use and to leave the door open for about a half hour to an hour to allow the gasket to dry.

Must decide - New Speed Queen washer vs used
The TC5 is the one to get. Not the TR5. Completely different machines.

Does anyone regret spending more for SpeedQueen?
I have actually purchased a Speed Queen washer (dryer forthcoming) and I have nothing bad to say about it. My old washer was a piece of junk at 3 years old and literally shook itself to death with a few unbalanced loads. I cannot say that my clothes are any less clean than they were before. However, I got the speed queen traditional top loader as I've not had good experiences with front loaders. What I can say is that the controls are dirt simple. Nothing except the basics--fine by me, I never used half the settings on the old one anyway. It certainly lives up to it's name, loads are done FAST. No issues with clothes being anything less than clean within expectations. I don't have a dirt-o-meter that will quantify the soil levels in my garments, so the nose check says we're good. It's not quiet, not handsome and when you do a full water run, it's not particularly efficient. However, it works. It doesn't walk around, it doesn't prompt me to refill my affresh every few weeks, it doesn't do anything other than clean my clothes. The only thing I don't like is that you have to pay this much for a simple, well-made machine, the likes of which were the standard affair 30+ years ago. I dislike that we're sold a bill of goods on all these overly complicated washers that do a mediocre job and are not terribly durable. So as an actual SQ owner, I'm satisfied. I would have rather not spent this much and I recognize that is a privilge I hold; reality is that a machine like this should be available at a much lower price point.

Love our TC5. Fairly heavy usage - farm family with landscaping husband. Lots of dirt and grime!

We bought a Speed Queen TR5 in 2020 for $1200 which included haul away and install. We had the shit show of a Samsung washer. We kept the Samsung dryer because it still worked. When it dies. Looks like the DR5 is a little over $1500.
