I'm in Canada, my Filson Double Mac Cruiser Handels -20C with a hoody under no problem. Does great in the freezing rain too. Wool>Gortex for the wet and cold.

Unpopular Opinion: "BIFL" as an excuse for overspending
Some clothes ARE buy it for life. Specifically outerwear- jackets, hats, even boots. As an adult who learned their lesson after my first pair cracked after 2ish decades my lacrosse snow king boots I bought last year will out last me. My filson double mackinaw hat will too. Most well made (not electric) tools are bifl. That and every gun i own is bifl quality.
