Let’s Talk Wirecutter: What Was Worth It and What Wasn’t?
I’ve never loved a vacuum the way I love the Miele vacuums. I didn’t know our hardwood floors could be so clean and it’s actually enjoy doing it. We also bought refurbished C1 in 2020 for $300 and it’s still like brand new.

which cord vacuum has this sub deemed the best?
Miele C1 or C3 gets the most love here. Super strong suction and built like a tank. If you want cheaper, the Sebo Dart pops up a lot too.

Best vacuum for pet hair on furniture?
definitely the Miele C1. Its super powerful, affordable, and easy to maneuver since its a canister style vacuum that comes with different attachments. The warranty is pretty good too

Miele Vacuum worth the cost?
I’m new to the Miele family, but my MIL has had the same for 15 years and told me it was THE brand to go with for longevity, so I’m convinced. When I bought mine about four months ago, I was so confused by all the different models and the vast price differences, with some models being hundreds more than others. Another Redditor shared this [spreadsheet of vacuum cleaners](https://www.reddit.com/user/lacking_foyer48/comments/1lj76h3/vacuum_cleaners_compared_comprehensive_datasheet/) with me that let me compare all the models in one place. I ended up choosing the C1 because I have mostly just low pile rugs in my home, so I didn’t really feel like it was worth the price difference to pay for the C3, which is what my inlaws have for their fully carpeted home.

Best vacuum cleaner?
After I read through this thread, I did a ton of research on the Miele and Sebo brands based on everyone’s opinions, and there are so many models. I found [this spreadsheet ](https://www.reddit.com/user/lacking_foyer48/comments/1lj76h3/vacuum_cleaners_compared_comprehensive_datasheet/) that another reddit user posted of all the different vacuum models and brands. it’s such a great resource for filtering down your options. I went with a Miele C1, and I’m very happy with it a few weeks in.

Best vacuum cleaner?
When I was growing up, my mom had a Kenmore vacuum that she would take every couple of years to get fixed at the little service center inside Sears, and I swear she had that vacuum for over 20 years altogether. They just don’t make them like that anymore! I agree with the other posters here who have mentioned the Miele brand (which I believe is German?). I think it’s the closest you’ll get to a BIFL option. When I was shopping a while back, I came across this [vacuum comparison list](https://www.reddit.com/user/lacking_foyer48/comments/1lj76h3/vacuum_cleaners_compared_comprehensive_datasheet/) on another subreddit where someone listed out all the different available vacuums. I ended up with a C1 (pretty basic model), but they have lots of options that I’m sure would suit you.

These are the most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (r/VacuumCleaners VS others) as of Jan 2025
My dad has had the same miele C1 Cat and Dog vacuum for 14 years and it still works great despite the fact that he vacuums with it DAILY, and has forced it to ingest some crazy shit. Because of his extremely heavy usage, he's had to have it in to get it fixed three times in the last 14 years, but it was overall fairly inexpensive. One of the real strengths of the miele vacuum is that it was designed to be repaired, as many of the parts are replaceable (and miele sells these parts). Since we have a local miele store, my dad can just take it in to their shop and the guy there will fix it for him.
