We've had a C3 since we bought our house in 2013 that has powered through 2 shedding ass dogs, a kid born 5 years after we bought it, and my profession which is literally in the dirt, and the only "damage" it's suffered is the paint on the cord wind button has worn down and one of the power mode lights is out. Our now-7YO uses it as part of her chores, which she does angrily, and the Miele survives her fits. Another comment said the bags last a long time, but they don't in a house like ours!

What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
I've never in my life had a clogged vacuum with any Sebo or Miele. And I'm a professional cleaner by trade. I've seen it happen to people who are very careless with their machines but never had it be a personal issue. I own the British equivalent to the Rainbow vacuum aka Hyla. I've tested them both and there is really no comparison. The Miele C3 out performs it in just about every category. And the features it can contend with are subjective imo. More of a users preference than a performance one.

Miele C1 or C3 gets the most love here. Super strong suction and built like a tank. If you want cheaper, the Sebo Dart pops up a lot too.

When I bought mine about four months ago, I was so confused by all the different models and the vast price differences, with some models being hundreds more than others. Which Miele hoover is best for pets?
We have a burgundy pet C3. I couldn't tell you which one exactly. I think they're all going to be basically the same with different accessories, so you could probably convert from one to another if you buy an additional nozzle. We bought a filter holder so we could use the cheaper filters in ours. The best feature, not that the rest is bad, is the automatic cable retraction. That's still great fun.
