All weather all year jacket for life recommendation?
https://eu.patagonia.com/at/de/product/mens-iron-forge-hemp-canvas-chore-coat/27825.html They do. It’s called the chore coat. It has different pockets but it’s almost the same but without lining.

Carhartt Detroit Style Jacket
Easy fix, take a razor blade or a seam ripper and cut off the Carhartt logo. I do that with anything I can. If it matters to you you could opt for something like Patagonia's Iron Forge Chore Coat. Lots of outdoorsy people wear Carhartt, it's a good dollar per mile for people doing trail work or I've known lots of boulderers that wear their stuff. So I wouldn't second guess it from a style perspective

Carhartt Detroit Style Jacket
I have a few Carhartt jackets that I love, but I’m a trades guy use them strictly for work. I hike a lot and would never recommend any of them for that. I’d recommend a Patagonia barn coat. I have this one, but just searched their website and it seems they have discontinued it: https://wornwear.patagonia.com/products/mens-iron-forge-hemp-canvas-barn-coat_27795_coi. These jackets have no break in period at all, which is something I can’t say for Carhartt. This one is quite similar: https://www.patagonia.ca/product/mens-iron-forge-hemp-canvas-chore-coat/27825.html If you can get your hands on the version I have it’s an amazing outdoor jacket. I’ve done lots of hiking in mine and it’s very warm. Having that many pockets also eliminated the need for a backpack depending on the hike as they’re extremely spacious. The lining on the inside is one of my favourite features of it. Doesn’t matter what material your layers are, it glides on so easily.

Looking for a good every-day jacket that only gets better with age under 300
I'm also 6'3 and I recently bought 2 jackets that I am absolutley enjoying. The Carhartt detroit jacket in XL-Tall is breaking in nicely and actually fits. The other jacket that is a better fit for 50 degree days is [THIS](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-iron-forge-canvas-chore-coat/190696646894.html) jacket from Patagonia. It's really a great fitting and functional jacket.
