Best women's down jacket for outdoor ice skating activities?
I really don’t think you can go wrong with Patagonia. I love my down sweater but I find it too warm for a lot of active use. Depending on how hot or cold you operate while active you might consider something like their nano puff. Down is not waterproof and does not hold in heat if it gets wet which is likely to happen if it is snowing or if you fall for example while synthetic insulation keeps its warmth while wet. Patagonia also has a legendary warranty and offers free repairs on their items for life. You really can’t get much more BIFL than that.

Stuff you will continue buying for life
Le crueset Dutch oven (going on 13 years) Patagonia nano-puff jacket. Sent back once for free repair. Almost 10 years old and I wear it daily 8 months of the year. Bombas socks. I had some last 9 years Revere Ware pots with the copper bottom found at thrift stores. I honestly don’t know how they last forever. Vintage cast iron pan. I assume this is immortal as it’s from the 1920s and still has a mirror finish. Early Wood wooden cooking utensils. If you follow the cleaning and care instructions it seems like they will last forever.

What did you wish you had at 21?
I’m a few years older than you but tbh better winter gear. I think around then I got my first coat since I was a child. I got a Patagonia nano puff and it serves me well in SE Michigan, 10/10 would recommend. Nice set of long John’s are also incredible. I have smart wool too and bottom base layer that I live in November-February.
