The Patagonia Men's Nano Puff Jacket is superb for UK hiking and general outdoor use. Filled with PrimaLoft Gold Eco, the synthetic insulation provides lightweight warmth and maintains performance in damp conditions. Brick quilting on the body and horizontal side baffles stabilise the insulation and give a low-bulk fit. Wear the jacket as an outer piece or layer it under a shell on rainy days. The recycled ripstop polyester shell and lining fabrics are lightweight, abrasion-resistant, and have a PFAS-free water-repellent finish. There's a wind flap behind the main zip to stop cold draughts, and you can adjust the hem drawcord to help trap extra body heat. The zipped hand pockets have soft linings for comfort and warmth. The internal zipped chest pocket gives secure storage and doubles as a stuff sack. Compact when stowed, it's easy to stash in your pack.

Best winter parka money can buy?
I would simply add a puffy jacket on top of the Dale of Norway sweater. Patagonia nano or something. Also you should try insulated pants.

I’m looking for a BIFL hoodie
+1 for the champ reverse weave. Never too hot in it. Can wear it alone or under my Patagonia nano puffer for cold cold days. As an aside, I stay away from flint and tinder brand. Huckberry is a marketing company at their core. I bought astorflex cityflex shoes from their site that I love but I also tried their flint and tinder 365 chinos and they were rigid and horribly cut. The only selling lint was 100% cotton. I tried carhart but it didn’t seam any better than my champion hoody. Honestly my favorite workwear brand is key appeal. It’s what carhart and Duluth use to be.

Looking for a good quality winter coat
Patagonia down sweater or nano puff were my go-tos in NYC. They're high quality with a great repair/replace policy. I wouldn't do anything crazy warm, you'll want something where you won't be melting on the subway.

Best winter jackets?
You need 2 coats. A synthetic puffer with a Goretex jacket (ex: Patagonia Nanopuff jacket + Torrentshell). Also a down parka: my favorite is Feathered Friends. For you the Ellia Women's Down Jacket which is surprisingly on sale.

What brands do you trust to always deliver a high quality product?
Patagonia. They may be pricey, but damn, I have had shirts, flannels, jackets, pants, bags, and other gear (all new or Worn Wear!) and have never been failed. I’ve had Nano Puff jackets repaired by them, rain jacket waterproof refreshed, and clothing put through the wringer. Ive never had to get rid of anything and at the end of the day I always come back to them because I know I’ll get my moneys worth.
