The North Face Women's 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket is a cold-weather favourite. Filled with responsibly sourced 700-fill down insulation, it gives cosy warmth. The regular fit and boxy silhouette make it easy to layer over a hoody. The stand-up collar and adjustable cuffs help seal out draughts. The shiny ripstop fabric, oversized baffles, and logo details pay homage to The North Face's original Nuptse Jacket. Recycled materials and PFC-free water-repellent finish bring things up to date. There's a hood hidden in the collar, and you can stow the whole jacket into the hand pocket. An internal zipped pocket offers extra secure storage.

Looking for a puffer jacket
Patagonia Fitz Roy or the North Face Nuptse. These jackets are inherently not really BIFL as in they can be quite fragile, but Patagonia has a lifetime warranty. Ive sent my Fitz Roy in for repair to Patagonia numerous times over the last almost 20 years, and Patagonia strives to repair things than simply replace and throw in a landfill. And it's still warm as hell albeit shows its age. North Face will be more the style you are looking for based on this pic but Patagonia has the better repair warranty.

Brands That Used to Be BIFL — But Aren't Anymore?
Over the last 20 years, The North Face has declined. Their duffels are still solid but they’re making backpacks for college students now. The Borealis is far from a hiking pack now. Just stick to their staple jackets: Denali, Nuptse, Moutain Jacket and Ecoball. Those have lasted me.
